GenTech is looking for a Sr. Database Developer / Data Architect to serve as Technical Director on a Small Agile Development Project supporting an Acquisition Workload and Data Application. The Sr. Database Developer / Data Architect would be responsible for hands on development and design of the enterprise data management framework and to provide technical direction to certify integrity of the database and systems design. In this role, the Sr. Database Developer would provide hands on development as well as oversee the development, maintenance, and version control of architectural documentation.
In this role, the Data Architect will work with the Data team to maintain the existing BEAR database, data tables, data feeds and associated schemas. Maintenance activities may include, but are not limited to:
- Monitoring BEAR data feeds and ETL process
- Addressing data feed anomalies and data errors in the databases
- Database design and architecture
- Create database objects - tables, views, stored procedures, functions, etc.
- Database structure adjustments
- Create and maintain SSIS packages
The Data Architect will also develop, test, stage, and release business applications and supporting data structures using an Agile methodology and a frequent release cycle. This includes designing future database enhancements to support maximum interoperability across all AQD and IBC components and offices to ensure flexibility in leveraging the system for future applications.
The proposed Database Architect shall have demonstrated experience designing architectural framework and have relevant MS SQL experience.
The Data Architect designs the enterprise data management framework and provides technical direction to certify integrity of the database and systems design; remains engaged throughout the life of the project to ensure new database features are consistent and adaptable to the existing design. Oversee the development, maintenance, and version control of architectural documentation.
The required tasks include:
•Collaborate with stakeholders, solicit business requirements, and develop recommendations and approaches to satisfy AQD objectives and purposes.
•Provide recommendations, approaches, and screen mock-ups for proposed solutions.
•Furnish then necessary personnel, materials, services, and facilities, except as otherwise specified herein, and otherwise do all things necessary for, or incidental to, the performance of the work set out below and produce a range of deliverables.
•Maintain a product backlog, accessible to both AQD and the Contractor, to document
business requirements. The product backlog tool shall be procured, managed, and maintained by the Contractor.
•Follow test driven design and Agile methodology with formal and automated unit testing.
•Maintain existing and developed deliverables to ensure continued functionality, security, and improvement.
•Utilize portable, reliable, and maintainable computer programming languages, standardly used within industry, in the production of the database and applications.
Previous experience developing using Agile Sprints
Previous experience working with workflow and developing workflow
Experience writing advanced level MS SQL script code to include dynamic code and queries
Previous experience with the following Tools and Technologies:
- MS SQL 2016 or later
- ETL packages using SSIS
- Troubleshooting database issues
- Git/ version control
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Must be a US Citizen or Green card holder due to security clearance. The role is remote but needs to be in the Fairfax area for some onsite meetings.
