Position: Senior Systems Engineer
Location: Fairfax, VA or Ft Washington, MD (Hybrid - Partial Telework)
Education: Master's Degree
The successful candidate is expected to accomplish the following outcomes in the first year on the position:
Formally track all tasks, to include: assigned by, suspense, status and comments on all assigned tasks through completion and be prepared to brief upon request.
Create one or two products beyond the client requirements that positively impact the client to either increase efficiency, effectiveness, or innovation.
Identify all related stakeholders within 30 days and chart a roadmap for initial contributions within 90 days.
The Senior Systems Engineer is the Lead Systems Engineer/Architect for Quantum Computing and supports the Quantum Lab within the Secretary of the Air Force - Concepts, Development and Management (SAF/CDM) office. The Quantum Lab assists in modernizing, aligning and integrating digital enterprise architecture solutions and focuses on information technology acquisitions and solutions, development, Quantum Computing, and provides requirements development capabilities to support Quantum Lab, and other portfolios and material solutions when required.
Specific responsibilities include:
Develop next generation networking solutions supporting multi-level security environments (classified, unclassified and cloud), big data analysis solutions, machine learning, and Quantum computing.
Create and mentor best practices for Quantum computing, and construct and maintain models to enable development of full lifecycle products and enterprise architectures.
Provide technical IT systems engineering and programmatic support through requirements definition, planning, developing concepts, generating and managing requirements, defining and managing interfaces, developing hardware/software solutions, managing cost/schedule, integrating and testing, gaining acceptance and deploying solutions.
Assess and instill systems engineering rigor and risk management in the acquisition process.
Track and monitor program schedule.
Develop, draw and document digital architectures.
Interact with the NIPRNET, SIPRNET, JWICS, Defense Messaging System, and other networks as required.
Work and interact closely with the design and development team through all phases of development.
The candidate must have the following qualifications:
10+ years' experience in IT Systems Engineering and related work in support of DoD or Federal agencies.
DAWIA Level II Engineering (SPRDE II).
Experience using CAMEO.
The following qualifications are desired:
PMP and/or Agile certified.
Experience developing system solutions using waterfall and/or agile methodology.
Experience using Microsoft Project
Travel: Some travel may be required.
