Job Description
Director of Catering – Bucks County - $50K base + Commission 
Family-owned authentic Italian restaurant group seeking a Director of Catering to be the face of the catering department. The Director of Catering will own the entire division, from initial outreach and business development, to planning, coordinating and executing the event. We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills and the ability to respond immediately to any business inquiry. Events will be a combination of social and corporate with a focus on weddings, doing over 30 per year. Ideal candidates will have a sales & marketing background, be able to plan and coordinate all steps of the event process and be willing and able to assist with set up, break down and execution of the function. 
  • Develop strategy and annual plan to meet or exceed annual events and catering sales targets
  • Determine resource needs to accomplish
  • Recruit, hire and train associates as needed
  • Work closely with in house marketing team on materials needed to drive sales growth
  • Build a pipeline of sales that is 12 - 18 months out
  • Lead the sales team members
  • Ensure that the budgeted sales goals are achieved each quarter and fiscal year
  • Set sales goals by period and quarter to achieve annual objectives
  • Motivate sales associates to achieve goals
  • Hold accountable those associates that fall short of their sales goals
  • Provide regular feedback on performance, write and execute performance reviews
  • Seek out prospective customers and business opportunities with new client base
  • Makes personal sales calls and cold calls at customer sites and on the phone on a regular basis
  • Find multiple new venues annually, at a minimum with preferred status, ideally exclusive
  • Build strong relationships with potential clients
  • Develop strategy for cold calling to procure new corporate clients
  • Travel as necessary to visit existing and potential clients to solicit orders
  • Meet profit margin objectives as established by management
  • Compile and maintain an accurate list of prospective clients for use as sales leads based on sources such as newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, websites and others.
  • Stay current on existing and emerging products and technologies as well as industry trends to identify potential opportunities for growth
  • Introduce and demonstrate new products to potential clients through visits and menu tastings
  • Develop an effective and productive working relationship with commissary team leaders
  • Stay abreast of competition, particularly in and around Philadelphia and establish a cadence for analyzing and reporting
  • Executes sales efforts in an ethical and professional manner, ensuring a favorable impression of self and company
  • Minimum of 5 years prior Catering Sales experience required at a leading high end off-site catering company or a restaurant group 
  • Minimum of 5 years supervising sales associates
  • Proven track record of achieving sales revenue and margin goals
  • Self-motivated; able to perform with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel up to 80% between business units, event locations and client meetings
  • Ability to communicate with customers, staff and colleagues
  • Excellent organizational, planning and analytical skills and close attention to detail
  • Competency in Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to read, write and count to accurately complete all documentation
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Detail-oriented and the ability to multi-task in stressful situations
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as dictated by business.
