Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital is seeking a full-time Clinical Educator to create and implement lesson plans to children and adolescents within an inpatient psychiatric setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with and acute, psychiatric population within a mental health setting. The primary responsibilities are as follows:
Provide instruction to patients while maintaining an orderly and disciplined structure in the classroom.
Develop special interventions for patients unable to function within the classroom setting and assist in curriculum development.
Participate in patient treatment planning and staffing's when necessary.
Complete patient lesson plans and maintain all records as required.
Maintain an adequate supply of appropriate instructional materials relative to patient’s age and functioning level.
Participate in case management activities as required.
Assure compliance with applicable laws pertaining to psychiatric treatments.
Provide a safe, secure, therapeutic and professional environment at all times.
Lead by example and champion the philosophy of Service Excellence.
A Clinical Educator at Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital provides instruction to patients while maintaining an orderly and disciplined structure in the classroom. The Clinical Educator develops special interventions for patients unable to function within the classroom setting and assists in curriculum development while maintaining an adequate supply of appropriate instructional materials relative to patient’s age and functioning level. The Clinical Educator participates in case management activities as required, assures compliance with applicable laws pertaining to psychiatric treatments, completes patient lesson plans and maintains all records as required. The Clinical Educator provides a safe, secure, therapeutic and professional environment at all times.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Masters Degree preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Valid Illinois teaching certificate required; certification in Special Education preferred.
Experience:1-3 years teaching ED/BD children and/or adolescents preferred; 1-3 years experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting preferred.
Knowledge/Skills: Applicants must possess knowledge of effective teaching skills and educational strategies with a special education population, individual and group management skills, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and crisis and behavior management. Must be self-motivated, results-oriented individual who is customer focused.
