Gandy Ink, one of the largest privately held custom-printed apparel producers in the Southwest, is seeking a full-time innovative and motivated creative director to carry forward and lead the creative vision for all of our marketing and promotional efforts from our San Angelo, Texas headquarters.


The right Creative Director will bring a mix of visual marketing talent, expertise and business understanding to this position.

We are a fun company producing fun products for clients and customers, and are growing into a national player in what we do. We want your creative vision to help get us there. We’re looking for someone who can inspire others, while advancing our recently-updated brand and visual creation to a new level as we continue to grow. The right person for this job will have a natural eye for design and a drive to inspire others (our employees and our customers) with ideas that motivate and impact behavior. Most importantly, you must be able to translate those ideas into a visual marketing language that will both honor our brand, and connect with target audiences. This person will report directly to our VP of Strategic Initiatives, while working alongside our Marketing Director. Experience working with and managing small teams is a plus. We’re looking for someone who is ready for a leadership opportunity and eager for a long-term growth opportunity with a well-respected and established family-oriented company. Depending on experience, the right candidate could start as either an Associate Creative Director or Creative Director.


  • Ensure the timely production of all external web, print, and digital marketing collateral throughout our annual marketing calendar
  • Be the company’s visual brand ‘gatekeeper,’ maintaining a consistent brand image and visual messaging across all marketing communication efforts
  • Spearhead and manage visual content approach for both small-and large-scale projects, harnessing our brand and marketing strategies, brand standards, digital and brand design, and compelling content
  • Collaborate and coordinate within and across the marketing and sales departments in developing marketing plans, analyzing results, and identifying opportunities
  • Develop internal marketing campaigns that translate marketing objectives across business units into clear and motivating creative tactics
  • Work with others in marketing department and outside consultants and marketing partners to analyze brand tracking, market trends, consumer need, and the competitive landscape
  • Meet budget standards by forecasting and managing expenses


  • Create, design and produce on-brand visual content (art) for all external web, print, and digital marketing collateral
  • Prioritize time, work and resources across creative projects and needs based on short- and long-term needs, establishing production schedule with both internal departments and (as needed) external marketing partners
  • Keep us looking visually fresh from year to year, while maintaining strategic and creative thinking to develop innovative and actionable creative initiatives in a fiscally responsible manner
  • Review and provide feedback on copy developed by the team, ensuring deliverables that effectively address marketing goals and challenges
  • Produce fresh, innovative work that translates complex ideas into compelling print materials and digital experiences for varied audiences — coaches, teachers, students and commercial customers
  • Participate in and contribute to marketing department meetings and company marketing committee meetings
  • Balance and prioritize a significant creative production schedule and workload
  • (Along with marketing team) Contribute a limited number of new print design ideas for our annual apparel print design updates
  • Present internally, or oversee presentation of final marketing visual concepts, and obtain approvals for deliverables


  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in creative or art direction and production role in agency or corporate setting
  • Significant experience creating visual marketing/advertising campaigns from vision and the message platform to overseeing production on time and on budget
  • Understanding and past experience creating integrated content across all marketing channels from digital, social media, paid media, mobile, but also understand offline and print
  • Proven experience with concept development
  • Strong copy writing and editing skills (preferred)
  • Strong creative vision with an understanding of business objectives and impact on customer behavior
  • Proven level of comfort with creating visual concepts through final production-ready art in core Adobe Creative Suite software — Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
  • Significant experience critiquing and directing the work of designers, photographers, and other creative professionals
  • Strategic thinker, but with solid attention to detail
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Low ego factor — a willingness to take on work, big or small, with enthusiasm for the good of the company (can-do attitude)
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities with solid time management and organizational skills


  • Must be in or willing to relocate to San Angelo, Texas (inquire about relocation assistance, if necessary)
