The Park Board of Trustees of the City of Galveston is a government entity that was created in 1962 for the purpose of directing all tourism efforts for the city. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A GRANT MANAGER

As a grant writing professional in tourism and hospitality, you play a key role in the administrative management and financial tracking of local, state, and federal grants both before and after the awards process. You research and identify available funding opportunities and present these opportunities to executive management. Through collaboration with department personnel, you prepare the required documentation as well as write and submit grant applications and proposals to the appropriate agencies. You attend meetings and track the progress of any pending applications. In the case of unforeseen risks or difficulties, you are able to promptly recommend changes to our plans and applications in response.

In addition, you oversee and participate in the preparation of performance, financial, and evaluation reports. You review and approve grant administrative and financial submissions for accuracy and compliance. By performing monthly revenue, you ensure that costs are coded correctly and within budgetary limits. You track all institution contributions and prepare monthly profit and loss reports as well as prepare for company audits. At times, you travel in and out of the local area in various weather conditions to conduct business. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A GRANT MANAGER

  • Associate degree in business or public administration
  • 5+ years of grant writing experience
  • 3+ years of project or grant management
  • Hold a current and valid class C driver's license
  • Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) certification OR the ability to become certified (CTA training provided by the Galveston Island Park Board of Trustees upon hire)
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to perform analytical functions, prepare financial and statistical reports, and develop and monitor budgets
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with coworkers, vendors, and outside agencies
  • Knowledge about project coordination and multi-agency collaboration

Having experience using grants.gov or FEMA recovery funding is a plus but multiple factors will be taken into consideration. Do you have excellent verbal and written communication skills? WORK SCHEDULE

This full-time grant writing position works a typical schedule of 8:30 AM - 5 PM, Monday through Friday with weekend, evening, and holiday hours as needed.
