GALLATIN COUNTY ROAD & BRIDGE DEPT
This position is the Road Foreman for the Road and Bridge Department, and performs or oversees various duties related to the maintenance and construction of the roads in the county road system. The position plans and prioritizes work for subordinate employees, conducts inspections of county roads, plans and schedules road improvements, maintains inventory of road maintenance equipment and supplies, provides budget input, compiles bid packages, and performs various other duties as needed. The position reports to the Road and Bridge Supervisor and provides supervision of the Road Operators.
The position requires knowledge of road construction and road maintenance procedures and operations; traffic patterns and socioeconomic factors in the County and their effect on transportation demand and road life; contract administration; public relations; environmental law and related processes; right-of-way programs and policies; accounting and budgeting; training techniques; OSHA regulations; DOT specifications; supervisory principles and practices; and program requirements. The position requires skill in the operation of road construction and maintenance equipment (e.g., bulldozers, snowplows, graders, dump trucks, crusher, etc.); and the ability to identify the need for repairs, determine whether safety is an issue, prioritize and plan repairs and maintenance based on budget, safety, and other factors, compile budgets, direct
work crews or mechanics repairing or operating specialized equipment, and resolve any problems that occur throughout project implementation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The required knowledge, skills and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a graduation from high school and completion of specialized training plus five (5) years related work experience including experience as a foreman/crew supervisor of 10 or more employees with direct supervision/leadership training.

WINTER WORK HOURS:
Full-time, 7:00 A.M. - 3:30 P.M. Mon - Fri
SUMMER WORK HOURS:
Full-time, 6:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M. Mon - Thurs/Tues - Fri
