This position is located in the Finance Office of the Gallatin County Courthouse and will perform tasks in both the Finance and Finance Accounting office. This position performs professional-level accounting duties for the maintenance, reporting and review of accurate financial records, culminating in the completion of timely and accurate budget documents and financial reports for Gallatin County. This position will provide guidance and information to County employees, the public, external auditors and regulatory bodies. This position reports to the Finance
Director and does not supervise other County personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSThis position requires a moderate level of knowledge and understanding of governmental accounting practices and procedures; financial analysis, general ledger, fixed assets and the use of financial software and the ability to acquire knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). In addition, this position requires knowledge of accounting theory, spreadsheet proficiency, and the ability to interpret Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements and Federal and State statute. The incumbent should have the ability to present
information to a variety of audiences with diverse levels of understanding; analyze and interpret accounting data and problems; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; requires careful attention to detail and accuracy in recording or verifying numbers. This position also requires the ability to handle stress and meet deadlines; multi-task, prioritize, organize and problem solve; be detailed oriented; must be able to perform with diplomacy and tact and be able to work as a team member. The Finance Coordinator must have the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The required knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, plus two to three (2-3) years related work experience preferably in governmental accounting or equivalent education and experience.
As a condition of hire, the final candidate will be required to successfully pass a criminal history check and background investigation.
