The Computational Biologist will provide experienced organizational, technological and scientific leadership in the application of state of the art computational biology and bioinformatics approaches in drug and biomarker development.  A crucial component will be the establishment of a high quality and collaborative expertise in data mining, text mining, data analysis, data visualization, and computational biology applied across the TESARO/GSK portfolio. 

Key Responsibilities

Access, analyze and integrate publicly available onco-genomics information to generate and test biomarker hypotheses.

Integrate with internal and external large scale non-clinical and clinical data sets to understand mechanism of compound response, aimed to inform additional patient selection / enrichment biomarker development, additional indications, and rational combination strategies

Interact effectively with project teams across the portfolio. 

Develop and manage informatics platform or pipelines to integrate external and internally acquired data in a format amenable to use by scientists from research, translational and medical development group across the portfolio in the organization.

Basic Requirements:
PhD degree or equivalent Computational/Informatics experience/training with experience in Pharma/Biotech or academic setting. Candidate of all different levels will be considered.
A high level of integrity and desire to find new medicines that bring benefit to patients; a strong intellectual curiosity and desire to understand and solve problems.

Proven ability to influence across multi-disciplinary teams of internal colleagues and interact with external experts in academic institutions as well as CROs;  A willingness to work pro-actively in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment;

Experience in large scale, multi-dimensional genomic (including but not limited to NGS) data analysis, integration and management; proficient in data visualization and communication with multi-disciplinary team; ability to collaborate and apply leading algorithms from academic and industry; creative and practical use of systems biology methods in gene/target discovery, interpretation of cellular processes, and biomarker discovery.

Proficiency with data visualization tools or scripting languages (R or Python).

Experience with developing next-generation sequencing pipelines or experience working with images computationally (eg. machine vision, and image processing) will be a plus.
