You are a talented Sr. Website Developer who is passionate about building meaningful and beautiful user interactions and interfaces on websites in a variety of CMS applications. This role requires someone who is comfortable building custom themes and features based off of robust designs (or design systems), is a team player and functions well in an agency world. Having a design background and being able to talk about design and user experience is also a big plus.

Day-to-day, you will work with a lot of different codebases and within different PHP based CMSs (in order), such as Craft, Wordpress, Expression Engine and Drupal. You’ll be working both on the back and front-end of these systems, independently seeing work from start to completion. If you're a confident web developer who can build anything in these CMSsl, we'd like to hear from you.

Note we are only recommending Craft, Wordpress and Headless CMS’s for new work, but we have some legacy sites we still support on Drupal and Expression Engine that you might also still work on.


What You'll Do

  • Build intuitive, SEO- friendly, and performance optimized websites

  • Build themes from the ground up as well as installing and customizing pre-existing themes

  • Build sites as flat pages (templates) as well as builder-based sites (design systems)

  • Build custom features and plugins (Collaborating with our back-end team on really complex stuff as needed)

  • Be a creative problem solver, with an ability to understand and communicate micro and macro details

  • Collaborate with UX designers on site features, layouts and structure

  • Collaborate with Account Strategists on business goals, work estimates and project planning

  • Collaborate with Project Managers on work breakdowns (taking big tasks and creating small tickets in Jira) as well as official technical project documentation in Confluence.

  • Be a confident developer and a team leader (or strive to be one), excited by learning and absorbing new technologies, but also supporting legacy code and making it better


Your Qualifications

  • Deep experience in building websites in these CMSs: Craft, Wordpress, Expression Engine, and Drupal

  • Well versed in Frontend technologies such as CSS, JS, Semantic Markup, PHP and MySQL

  • Experience with building websites and themes from the ground up using Figma

  • Experience with version control using Git, BitBucket, and / or Github.

  • Experience in Agile / Scrum environments

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with clients and team members

  • Pixel-perfect, attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate design decisions and UX principles and document in writing

  • Able to contribute to team growth and process improvement

Location & Remote Work

  • Role is open to anywhere in the USA

  • Working while traveling is okay up to 4 weeks/year — just do good work on time

  • Must be working from 9am-2pm Pacific Time, other hours are at your discretion


Hiring Process

Our process generally involves 4 rounds of interviews; a phone screening, video calls with hiring manager, team members or specialists and CEO. Some of our applicants with technical backgrounds may be asked to complete a skill-based assessment, and review your results with an Architect. If asked to complete an exercise, you will be compensated for your time.
