Contract BigCommerce/Shopify Developer

GRAYBOX is looking for a contract Ecommerce Developer to join our team, specifically with a focus on BigCommerce & Shopify. This role is either fully remote (or in our Portland, OR office). If you are an expert working with a variety of ecommerce platforms (Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento, etc.), looking to push the limits of your knowledge while working with a collaborative goal-oriented team — we’d love to chat with you.
You will advise, build and support the development of highly customized commerce experiences for B2C & B2B clients.
Responsibilities
- You will work to drive the designs and technical implementation of client stores and ecommerce-related projects.
- You will work with various CMS’s, themes and plugins to create functional stores to project requirements.
- You will collaborate closely with the creative team to validate design UX & UI decisions and deliver on the overall project vision.
- You will work alongside a small team of developers to discuss solutions, make decisions, estimate/validate, and ensure the technical feasibility of planned feature development.
- You will report progress and escalate issues or slippage in a timely fashion.
- Troubleshoot problems and operate independently

Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in high-end front-end development
- 4+ years of experience with PHP, Ruby, CSS, SCSS, Javascript
- 2+ years of experience with the major Ecommerce Platforms, specifically a portfolio of stores you’ve built.
- 2+ years of experience with Git and code management
- 2+ years of development experience in an agency environment, working on more than one project at a time.
Nice to Have
- Experience creating Ecommerce Plugins/modules (public or private)
- Platform certifications
- Experience with React or GraphQL
- Experience with headless commerce
- AWS / DevOps experience
- Experience with other ecommerce frameworks such as: Commerce Tools, SFCC/Demandware, Magento, etc.
Benefits
Pay Mechanics:
- As a contractor, you’ll invoice GRAYBOX monthly
- We’ll agree to either an hourly rate or a per-project flat scope, we’re open either way
- This isn’t a part-time fixed job, hours and schedules will fluctuate depending on what we need and your schedule.
