The OBGYN-MA Supervisor supervises the functions of the OBGYN Medical Assistants including setting goals, priorities, and performance standards for patient access functions within the practice. The OBGYN-MA Supervisor is responsible for the development, on-going maintenance, and employee training required to ensure the consistent application of OBGYN medical services, standards, and best practices associated with the delivery of safe patient care. The OBGYN-MA Supervisor will also be responsible for managing the receipt and delivery of prescription medications and nurse visit services.
The OBGYN-MA Supervisor will assist OBGYN Practitioners in the delivery of services as a member of the OBGYN Medical Assistant team. The OBGYN-MA Supervisor coordinates the OBGYN Medical Assistant staff’s schedule and the assignment of duties regularly required. The OBGYN-MA Supervisor participates in the annual OBGYN Medical Assistant staff performance appraisals, carries out needed disciplinary actions, and makes recommendations about employment, promotion, and termination.
This position requires compliance with the Center’s Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct and applicable policies and procedures. Such compliance will be considered as part of a regular performance appraisal. Failure to comply with the Center’s standards, including the failure to report any conduct or event that potentially violates legal or compliance requirements, will be met by the enforcement of disciplinary action, up to and including possible termination.
Supervises all OBGYN Medical Assistant functions to ensure conformance with established standards and procedural requirements. Preparation of OBGYN clinical support staff schedule and assures that adequate coverage is provided to OBGYN providers. Participates in the hiring and annual evaluations of OBGYN medical assistant staff.Ordering medical supplies, taking delivery, and keeping inventory of equipment and supplies will be the responsibility of the OBGYN-MA Supervisor.
Monitors OBGYN patient flow and, in the case of patient overflow, assists Medical Assistants in preparation of examination rooms, preparation of patients for exam, and taking of vital signs of patients. Performs other routine procedures, i.e., weighing and measuring, as necessary and assists Providers with other procedures, as requested. Assists with patient care as directed by the medical provider. Accurately translates to facilitate medical provider/patient communication when appropriate.
Maintains an accurate knowledge of all procedures offered and the components of the Medical Assistant’s role in each. Participates in all staff trainings regarding new procedures and services.
Manages the receipt and delivery of prescription medications, immunizations, and nurse visit services.
Implementation and maintenance of Federal and state regulations, e.g., OSHA, CLIA, DOL and recognized guidelines and best practices associated with the services offered at the Center and in the laboratory.
Assures that all patient electronic records (eCW) are accurate and closed in a timely fashion. The Clinical Supervisor is expected to have a mastery over the electronic system and train clinic staff in its proper use.
Participates in appropriate health promotion/disease prevention activities and outreach efforts, both on-site and off-site as required.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
Medical Assistant Diploma/Certificate
Must possess the ability to train and motivate staff members.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) Strongly Preferred
- Five years of experience in a professional medical office
