Our Recycling Center Managers enjoy the challenge of solving complex problems in a technical manufacturing environment. We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills who will be great at keeping their team up to date on goals through daily huddles and great communication. The ideal person comes from a construction, heavy equipment or other manufacturing leadership experience. In addition to leading your team to success every day, you will be in healthy competition with other site managers to implement the best lean and safety standards.

Recycling Center Coach Summary:

The Recycling Center Coach is responsible for the management and profitability of their location as well as the professional development of the potential leaders within the team. This role works through team members to increase revenue from both residential and industrial customers and on building relationships with local business. This position will plan, direct and coordinate retail yard operations, as well as ensure output and quality goals are met while remaining within budget.

  • Responsible for safe and efficient operations of the retail yard locations managing both capital resources and labor.
  • Report on production, safety, goals and efficiencies to management. Initiate necessary action to meet department goals and personnel needs.
  • Monitor product standards and implement quality control programs.
  • Work closely with sales department to coordinate shipping and receiving of materials.
  • Interpret and administer company policy.
  • Manage department and individual performance through direct and indirect supervision of employees.
  • Ability to meet physical demands and perform the essential job functions within the work environment identified in this job description.

Recycling Center Coach Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or related studies required
  • 7-10 years of experience in a manufacturing or recycling environment
  • 5+ years supervisory experience
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Working knowledge of machine operation
  • Knowledge of OSHA and Safety compliance requirements
  • Professional assertive attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task

Outcomes and Measurements for Recycling Center Coach:

Operations (50% of time)

  1. Direct all operations of recycling centers while owning all aspects of: financial performance, operational flexibility, growth, safety and leadership.
  2. Manage CS scale pricing and stay competitive in region.
  3. Coach and develop team members so they are building skills needed to succeed within PADNOS and a team that can assist with the expansion of PADNOS.
  4. Manage inventory levels; <60 days in inventory for Ferrous and <45 days for Nonferrous.
  5. Manage monthly budgets and forecasting to align with customer volumes and yard objectives.
  6. Identify operational inefficiencies and generate solutions for continuous improvement; with no less than 2% documented annual improvement.
  7. Safety audits maintain > 90% score.
  8. Increase of gross margin in our yard by 2% in 2020.
  9. Maintain administrative accuracy for all inbound and outbound material; >90% ATM audit.

New Account Acquisition and Retention (50% of time)

  1. Win a minimum of 5 accounts per quarter; 240 gross tons per year
  2. Customer Response Rate: Respond to customers' inquiries, quotations and needs within 24 hours of initial inquiry.
  3. Gain knowledge on costs associated with the yard (ie: freight, handling, or processing related to ferrous or nonferrous material).
  4. Maintain CS and CD customer volumes and manage targeted list for growth; 5% increase YOY.
  5. Account Retention; retain 95% of Accounts.
