Job Description

We are looking for a MIS Manager to be responsible for effectively managing the day to day development and execution of all corporate information technology functions - - enterprise software, applications development, technology infrastructure (servers, workstations, peripherals, wireless network, wireless scanning devices, etc.), information security, and telecommunications. This position will monitor new and emerging systems and technology and make recommendations to the Management Team on purchases and negotiate contracts with technology vendors and suppliers.

Responsibilities/Job Duties

• Manage and support daily operations of multiple IBM iSeries servers.

• Must be proficient in IBM iSeries programming and technical operating standards – technical experience with OS400, CL, DB2/400, SQL/400 and TCP/IP, web server, etc. programming experience in RPG ILE would be helpful.

. • Provide AS400 technical expertise and training to peers and users as needed.

• Responsible for day-to-day application development priorities and support business operational needs.

• Manage the AS400 applications team on projects, ad hoc fixes and provide best development practices

. • Work with Network service department to provide data connectivity among IBM iSeries server, SQL servers and Window servers.

• Provide leadership, mentorship and team building disciplines to get the most from each resource.

• Provide technical support for software and hardware issues - identify root cause of processing failures and procedural errors, provide technical advice, and consult with vendors and specialists to isolate, analyze, and correct system faults.

• Work with both application development team and business users to identify when to develop an app internally or use an off-the-shelf third- party component. • Perform HW/SW upgrades and software updates including PTFs & firmware.

• Manage AS400 user profiles, security, output queues, remote printing, job queues, etc.

• Analyze and monitor data security, recommend and implement corrective actions.

• Be able to learn quickly and understand the business impact to properly guide the team in making the right decisions.

• Review and approve system requirements with both the IT Applications team and end users.

• Serve as functional and technical expert for supported application systems, and as the lead Systems analyst for In-house developed ERP applications.

• Manage and communicate the active IT Programming Project list and project backlog.

• Maintain data integrity of all supported systems. Ensure proper testing and validation of results prior to production.

• Support change management, system backup and disaster recovery, and peripheral connectivity.

• Manage IT budget. Make recommendations to select and purchase hardware and software to support business and users’ needs.


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information System, or related fields with 10+ years’ experience.
  • 8+ years as Technical Lead/Program Manager (Legacy or ERP applications).
  • 6+ years in AS400 administration in TCP/IP networked environment desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of AS400 hardware and software, including proficiency in AS400 LPARs, HMC, OS/400 (IBM i v7.x), RPG and iSeries Navigator.
  • Working knowledge of Maxava HA, TL Ashford label software, ICS formprint, SQL server connection tool and RPG2XML will be beneficial.
  • Extensive knowledge of current and emerging technologies related to mid-range computing environment, including hardware architecture and operating system software components.
  • Working experience with terminals, network printers, wireless scanners/folklift devices.
  • Strong verbal/written communication, project planning and coordination skills required
  • Excellent user service skills are a must.
  • Ability to occasionally work evenings/weekends and provide on-call support for off-hours.
