Position: Floral Designer
Direct Supervision: Store Manager
Indirect Supervision: District Manager
Description: The Floral Designer is responsible for generating sales and providing superb customer service, while functioning in a team oriented environment. The primary focus of the Floral Designer is the operation of the floral department which includes, but is not limited to: designing professional, top-quality, and creative floral arrangements; creating custom floral and gift arrangements upon requests from customers, maintaining adequate inventory levels of flowers and arrangements, housekeeping, pricing, cash register operations, and loss prevention in adherence to all Company Policy/Store standards.
Take and complete orders for customers in a timely manner
Design arrangements as requested by customers; complete special orders in a timely manner (cemetery arrangements, special-occasion arrangements, and holiday orders will be in high demand in this position)
Partner with Store Manager as needed when customer demand is high
Keep log book of customer orders to be kept in-store
Create arrangements for sale in the floral department
Place floral orders/reorders with vendor as needed
Stock shelves, counters, or tables with specialty arrangement.
Set up advertising displays/arrange merchandise on counters or tables to promote floral and gift sales.
Stamp, mark, or tag price on merchandise.
Obtain merchandise requested by customer or receive merchandise selected by customer.
Answer customer’s questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise.
Calculate sales discount to determine price.
Keep the floral area clean and orderly
Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The Floral Designer must have sufficient experience plus a combination of training and work experiences that indicates possession of knowledge, skills and abilities to succeed in this position.

Associates must be at least 18 years of age
Must have good math skills.
Must be able to read and write legibly.
Must have good communication skills.
Must have creative design ability for floral arrangements
Must have working knowledge of computers (PC and other systems as required)
Must have passed a criminal background check to begin employment with Fruth.
Personal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. The Floral Designer must have willingness to participate in and successfully complete required training and to work with the team to increase customer satisfaction and sales.
Language Skills: Must have ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos [in English]. Ability to write simple correspondence [in English]. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, vendors, and other associates of the organization who only speak English.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to calculate a discount % amount. Ability to perform these operations using units of U.S. currency.
Reasoning Ability: Must have capacity for close attention to detail. Must be able to cooperate with other Fruth employees and external vendors. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to put into practice excellent customer service standards. Must be able to work independently, handle frequent interruptions, multiple projects, and adapt to changes in workload.
Certificates, Licenses, and Training: Complete additional training and/or attending seminars as required to improve skills and job performance. Complete Company’s training including but not limited to: new hire orientation, customer service training, and, safety training.
