Job Description

Position Overview

The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of associates with an emphasis on safety, quality, team work, high employee morale and excellent productivity.

 

Schedule

  • Typically 3:30 PM - 1:30 AM (end time may vary)
  • Shifts normally last 10 hours (12 on occasion)
  • Able to work on the weekend as needed

 

Essential Functions

  • Follows safety program procedures and ensures a safe work environment for employees
  • Ensures all food safety and safe quality food standards are consistently met
  • Demonstrates technical and manufacturing proficiency
  • Takes ownership of cost center labor budget
  • Takes ownership of employee turnover and takes proactive steps to improve retention
  • Supervises Production Leads, including the promotion, training, and coaching to ensure goals are met on schedule
  • Participates in the hiring of new employees by conducting interviews and making offers
  • Ensures necessary tools, supplies and equipment are ready and available to perform work tasks effectively
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements measures to improve methods, equipment performance, and quality
  • Works with Production Scheduler to prioritize workload in order to manage labor hours to budget.
  • Ensures accurate scans of inventory into production rooms as well as consumption.
  • Performs checks of each shop order pull for accuracy and is able to communicate discrepancies with Logistics
  • Conducts daily RedZone huddles with the leads to identify any needs in production.
  • Conducts bi-weekly safety walks for their areas.
  • Performs follow ups with employees and projects assigned.
  • Ensures tasks are being performed according to standard procedures and regulations
  • Demonstrates strong working knowledge of General Manufacturing Practices
  • Responsible for adhering to Safe Quality Food (SQF) and food safety policies and procedures
  • Responsible for maintaining a food safe work environment and in the event it is perceived that it is compromised, action is to be taken which includes stopping the process and notifying the production manager
  • Notifies a Lead when they are stepping out of the work area to transfer leadership role
  • Investigates and resolves work area and personnel issues in a timely manner
  • Responsible for the timely completion and investigation of all workers comp issues in their area
  • Must be familiar with CAPA reporting and investigations
  • Evaluates performance and gives feedback both formally and informally (i.e. on-the-spot, discipline notices, performance reviews, etc.)
  • Conducts training and coaching of associates, taking ownership of the associates development (e.g. monthly safety training, quality training, other trainings as assigned)
  • Ensures the condition of the work areas and equipment are in order and in compliance with company policies
  • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of, adheres to, and enforces all company policies and procedures
  • Ensures recordkeeping compliance related to achieving business objectives
  • Ensures accurate time keeping records through the time card approval process
  • Prepares daily department reports
  • Analyzes reporting data and makes recommendations for improvement
  • Interfaces with other aspects of the company such as QA, sanitation, Logistics, R&D, engineering and supply chain
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

 

Essential Skills & Knowledge

  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and effectively respond to changing production schedules
  • Goal-oriented approach to work, driving accountability throughout areas of responsibility
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills that empowers a workforce
  • Ability to work with and coordinate cross-functional teams
  • Ability to analyze reports and performance metric data and recommend action plans for improvement
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Bilingual English/Spanish, a plus

 

Education & Experience

  • 3-4 years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 2-year degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent work experience, preferred

 

Work Environment

  • Able to work the schedule listed above
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Comfortable with a moderate noise level
  • Able to work in an environment with peanuts and tree nuts
