Position Overview

The Industrial Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and directing the Maintenance Technicians to ensure all plant operations are running effectively and efficiently. This is a 2nd shift position and is a hands-on, working side-by-side position with the team.

Essential Functions

  • Manages a team of approximately 8-12 Maintenance Technicians
  • Effectively utilizes computerized maintenance management system
  • Interacts with Vendors and Contractors, as needed
  • Completes purchasing of needed supplies for the department
  • Contributes to Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Program
  • Ensures that a Critical Spare Parts List is maintained and ensures that the inventory correlates with the tracking list
  • Analyzes and repairs all manufacturing equipment and systems
  • Understands and performs processes on machines to ensure machine efficiencies
  • Utilizes Root Cause Analysis to determine and correct machine issues
  • Performs problem solving tactics using electrical, hydraulic, pneumatics and schematics
  • Teaches and transfers knowledge of mechanical aptitude to others
  • Promotes safety in the workplace by assuring that all guards/safety protections on equipment are in place and operating properly
  • Coordinates the weekend schedule for the Maintenance Department
  • Coordinates training for Technicians
  • Schedules and assigns preventative maintenance and work orders
  • Evaluates performance and gives feedback both formally and informally such as, coaching, cross-training, corrective action notices and performance reviews)
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Extensive knowledge of facilities/equipment set up and manufacturing equipment maintenance
  • Solid knowledge of food manufacturing equipment, including processing and packaging lines, a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience supervising others
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced environment and effectively respond to changing production schedules
  • Ability to work with and coordinate cross-functional teams
  • Ability to execute a work plans effectively and accomplish goals
  • Ability to analyze reports and performance metric data and recommend action plans for improvement
  • Strong ability to problem solve and execute to meet maintenance and budget goals
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills


  • Background and training in the food manufacturing industry is preferred
  • High School degree or equivalent is required

Work Environment

  • Lifting or pushing up to 50 pounds
  • Working in heat and cold as required
  • Ability to work in a loud environment
