Job Description

Position Overview

The FSQA Specialist is responsible for maintaining Quality Assurance documentation, identifying and correcting documentation deficiencies, providing general support to the QA Management team. In addition, the FSQA Specialist is responsible for reviewing daily production, approving and releasing product, updating and tracking held product, and managing environmental monitoring program.

 

Essential Functions

  • Reviews, revises, maintains and controls hard and electronic documents for successful execution of manufacturing, quality, sanitation and control operations
  • Reviews production and quality records and follows up on any deficiencies in records
  • Approves and releases product following our positive release policies, including USDA-regulated product
  • Assists in development of a Document Control system to ensure document approval has been met and to accurately communicate document revisions to responsible parties
  • Reviews on-hold product, updates hold system and follows up on disposition of held product
  • Collaborates with QA and Operations management to investigate and help solve problems
  • Reviews, revises and maintains hard and/or electronic documents for compliance of regulatory and food safety requirements
  • Manage environmental monitoring program, tracking and trending results, scheduling QA technicians to collect environmental samples, notifying sanitation team of necessary corrective actions and ensure proper documentation
  • Reviews product testing results, tracks and trends results, and follows up with corrective actions when necessary
  • Reviews and logs temporary exceptions
  • Compares BOM and Batch Records to ensure accuracy
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • MS Office proficiency with the ability to analyze, input, graph, trend and report data in a detailed and understandable manner
  • Familiar with USDA and FDA regulations, guidelines and interaction with regulatory entities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, team environment
  • Must be able to successfully complete PCQI and HACCP certifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • MS Office proficiency with the ability to analyze, input, graph, trend and report data in a detailed and understandable manner
  • Must have a high attention to detail

 

Education & Experience

  • High School degree required, Higher Education Degree preferred
  • Quality Assurance experience a plus
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus

 

Work Environment

  • Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to work in both hot/warm conditions
  • Comfortable with a moderate noise level
  • Able to work in an environment with peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat, egg and milk.
