Position Overview

The Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Coordinator is responsible for the maintenance of the quality assurance documentation, identifying and correcting documentation deficiencies, and assisting with development and implementation of training, pertaining to batch, quality audit records, Fresca Foods Inc.’s Identity Preserved program and provides general support in related areas to the QA Management Team under the direction of the FSQA Director.

Essential Functions

  • Implements, reviews, revises, develops and actively manages Quality records (electronic and paper)
  • Conducts tasks and trains designated people on various programs utilizing knowledge of Fresca and Client systems
  • Ensures batch records are accurate per product specifications, label requirements, and active TE’s (temporary exceptions)
  • Updates and articulates any changes of QA documentation related to formulas, processes, labels, packaging, product specifications and processes as appropriate across all Fresca Foods Inc.’s departments to ensure accurate compliance
  • Assists the Regulatory Documentation Coordinator with the Identity Preserved Certification Program
  • Maintaining related registers and records
  • Submission of appropriate and required documentation to ensure certification to the identity program
  • May act from time to time as an alternate contact with certifying agencies such as; Kosher, Organic, Non-GMO, Gluten free, etc.
  • Initiates and/or participates in the QA audit review process, exercising discretion and independent judgement to help resolve issues and report documentation failures
  • Operates as a 1st responder on nonconforming quality issues and traceability exercises and determines or recommends preventative and/or corrective actions (PA/CA)
  • Conducts, trains, and collaborates on traceability exercises
  • Calculates, advises and submits quality notifications (QNs) and PONC (additional costs related to labor, downtime, handling, storage, disposal etc.) claims to clients and/or Fresca Supply Chain, requiring collaboration with a variety of departments to ensure accuracy and timely resolution
  • A back up for positive release of finished product per HACCP, FSMA and operational document review
  • Evaluates, monitors and assists in the implementation and improvements of Fresca Foods Inc.’s Quality System programs
  • Supports the Fresca Foods Inc. SQF and FSMA systems
  • Identifies system failures and advises or participates actively with IT on improvements and training related to FSQA functions
  • Assists in reviewing and creating related Fresca SOP’s and policies
  • Responsible for maintaining a food safe work environment and intervening by stopping the process and notifying the supervisor, assistant supervisor, or lead on duty if it is perceived that a process or item is potentially compromised
  • The FSQA Coordinator’s backup is a designated and trained QA employee(s) or the FSQA Director when necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a strong attention to detail
  • MS Office proficiency especially in MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Must be able to successfully complete HACCP, FSMA and SQF Certification

Education & Experience

  • QA Technician experience in a food production facility is preferred
  • Minimum of two years of college credits earned, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 5 years Business and/or Quality experience
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus

Work Environment

  • Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to work in both hot/warm conditions
  • Comfortable with a moderate noise level
  • Able to work in an environment with peanuts and tree nuts
