Company Overview:

The Service Development Representative in Behavioral Health serves as the first point of contact and customer service representative for all behavioral health agency referral sources, including sales calls, behavioral health education and information, and community in-services regarding behavioral health.  The Service Development Representative seeks to help people and referral sources with all of their behavioral health needs including conducting pre-screens and facilitating access to our inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services.

Essential Functions:

  • Helps build collaborative working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Responsible for being a good steward of the company's financial resources by projecting a return on monies spent and managing to a marketing expense budget.
  • Responsible for executing effective business-to-business sales calls that identify and meet the needs of the referral community and clearly communicate the features and benefits of Freedom Behavioral services. These include performing pre-screening for appropriate services, pre and post call planning, establishing rapport, effective questioning skills, proposing solutions, handling objections and closing. In essence building relationships as always being available to those relationships.
  • Successfully executes a weekly, monthly, and quarterly strategy to increase market share through key account development including prospecting/diversification and call frequency/quality touches and routing through effective rotation schedules. Plans activity to maximize territory coverage of both existing and prospective referral sources.
  • Participates in collaborative strategic planning and problem solving as it relates to marketing growth strategies and community education
  • Responsible for achievement of inquiry/referral/admission goals/expectations as established at hire or at frequent review of agency budget goals.
  • Completes specific assignments timely as requested by supervisor.
  • Attends weekly battle planning sessions to give an update regarding referral sources, referral source needs, and progress towards agency service strategies.
  • Coordinate in-services with community and medical-based groups to educate them on behavioral health services on a prescribed and as needed basis
  • Responsible for readily communicating via secure messaging system with the team; frequently checking e-mail for referrals and responding to phone messages as quickly as possible.
  • Responsible for all sales administration duties including, but not limited to, CRM compliance, expense reports, payroll time sheets, physician expense logs, strategic territory planner, PTO requests, paperwork (pre-screen) delivery or pick-up when needed.

Education & Experience:

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • College Degree Preferred

Education Desired

  • Automobile insurance coverage must be current.
  • Valid driver's license

Skill Requirements

  • Ability to professionally and effectively interact with a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to be creative and generate ideas as they relate to servicing, marketing and community education.
  • Effective and persuasive communication skills with a positive and outgoing attitude
  • Strong time management and organizational skills. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook).
  • Must have independent means of transportation, possess a valid Driver's License and able to drive.
  • Willingness to learn behavioral health coverage issues.
  • Ability to maximize cost effectiveness in the use of resources.


  • One territory includes North and Northeast of Monroe extending as far as 75 miles and into Southern Arkansas (White Territory)
  • One territory includes Northwest, West and Southwest of Monroe extending as far as 75 miles following the the I-20 corridor (Blue Territory)
  • One territory includes South and Southeast of Monroe extending as far as 75 miles. (Red Territory)
