Job Description

 

Service Manager:

 

Career Objective:

The Service Manager is responsible for managing and directing their service team. The Service Manager shall work closely with the Store Manager with a main focus on safety and profitability while applying all company policies. Maintain a high level of service with customers, sales and rental team.

 

Career Responsibilities:

 

Manages the maintenance and repair of company owned and customer owned equipment

Review all work orders, Open, Closed, Quotes – Internal and External Credits

Check-In Status - equipment promptly checked to see if it requires a quick service or needs to be placed in shop for repair

Warranty Repair

Perform quality control checks

Daily check with Rental Associates to ensure the reserved equipment is ready for delivery or customer pick up

Daily review of the In Shop/Down Report

Repairs completed in a timely manner to reduce equipment down time/lost revenue and within budget.

Weekly safety meetings

Inspect shop daily for possible safety hazards

Daily walk through shop to ensure all technicians are following all safety policies, wearing safety glasses, use of safety harness, etc.

Ensure compliance of all Safety and Company Policy and Procedures

Annual Equipment Inspections

Knowledge of repair in respect to the equipment Franklin Equipment owns and services

Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex issues

Manage cost of shop supplies

Manages all technicians including Small Engine Mechanic and Wash Bay Associate

Is responsible for the overall direction and coordination of the service department

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Other duties as assigned by management

 

 

Education and Requirements:

High School diploma or GED

College Degree preferred

Valid Driver’s license

Excellent troubleshooting skills

Excellent communication skills

Possess a high degree of safety-awareness

Working knowledge of Construction and Agricultural equipment

 

Experience:

3-4 years of construction equipment repair experience

1-2 years supervisory experience

1 year of experience in the rental industry or equipment dealership.

Franklin Equipment was founded in early 2008 by four partners—Gary Gabriel, Troy Gabriel, Tom Richardson, and Tony Repeta. Together, they have over 150 years of experience in the equipment and rental industry. The Gabriel Family has been in the equipment industry since 1952 when Gary’s father, Sam, opened Sam’s Equipment Rental. The company expanded to five locations and became the dominant rental company in Central Ohio. Sam’s was sold to NationsRent in 1997.

On April 20, 2008, Franklin Equipment purchased the assets of Franklin Tractor and began the process of revamping the dealership’s operations. Since then we’ve invested heavily in facility upgrades and improvements. We then opened satellite branches in Dublin and Newcomerstown, and installed new information systems. In 2014, we moved our Columbus branch into our new 65,000 ft2 superstore. Since 2015, we have added 16 new store locations – Westerville, OH, Indianapolis, IN, Milwaukee, WI, Dayton, OH, Cincinnati, OH, Nashville, TN, Louisville, KY, Racine, WI, Lexington, KY, Oshkosh, WI, Knoxville, TN, Carmel, IN, Chattanooga, TN, Decatur, AL, West Columbia, SC & Spartanburg, SC!

We also assembled the best team of experienced rental and equipment personnel in the industry.
