About Job

As a key member of the Program Management and Integration team, you will be responsible for planning, validating and implementing cost reduction ideas to meet the Unit Responsible Value Optimization Savings target and work with engineers, suppliers, vehicle integration, purchasing, quality, finance, etc. on thorough evaluation, validation and presentation of recommended ideas and their associated business cases.    

As a Value Optimization Engineer you will be focused on summarizing vehicle level savings including potential at vehicle level, generating and organizing ideas for vehicle level proposals and partnering with program management and models and schedules implementation of value optimization ideas.

 Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for planning, validating and implementing cost reduction ideas to meet the Unit Responsible Value Optimization Savings target and work with engineers, suppliers, vehicle integration, purchasing, quality, finance, etc. on thorough evaluation, validation and presentation of recommended ideas and their associated business cases.
• Summarize vehicle level savings including potential at vehicle level.
• Generate and organize ideas for vehicle level proposals.
• Partner with program management and model and schedule implementation of value optimization ideas

Education and Ideal Experience

• B.S. Industrial engineering, Mechanical engineering, Quality or related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in manufacturing environment. Automotive experience preferred.
• Key to this position is an understanding and adherence to key product development principles and processes such as: functional objectives, DFMEA, DVP&R and Supply Chain principles and operation.

Preferences and Qualifications

• Experience working with cross-functional teams, such as customer’s product design, vehicle line quality, supplier quality, manufacturing, finance, vehicle integration, purchasing, brand, planning, etc.
• Project management skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to present cost savings ideas/business cases to Program Management and Senior management.
• Knowledge of manufacturing readiness and Quality core tools for automotive industry preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• The factory has both office area and shop floor area. The noise level in the office area is generally quiet. Wearing of personal protective equipment’s (PPE) when visiting the shop floor or when visiting a supplier’s manufacturing locations is required.
