Job Description

Position: Medical Assistant/Wellness Partner

Department: Clinical

Reports to: Practice Manager

Summary

We are a medical practice who places a high priority on customer satisfaction and creating an exceptional patient experience seeking a motivated, personable, professional Wellness Partner/Medical Assistant to assist our physicians and other providers in all areas of patient care. Position is in an office setting requiring cross coverage of the front desk if needed to ensure a smooth, harmonious and customer-centric working environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Medical Qualifications

  • Familiarity with medical terminology and activities
  • Experience charting and experience using EMR/EHR online systems
  • Experience rooming patients, taking vitals, and documenting health histories
  • Experience with medication/vaccination administration, EKG performance, and minor procedures (i.e. ear lavages, UDS collection, etc.)
  • Experience assisting physicians during procedures
  • Phlebotomist/IV Certification
  • 3+ years experience in a medical setting

Office Qualifications

  • Oversee proper functions of office equipment (autoclave maintenance, monitoring vaccine fridge, etc.)
  • Familiarity with database systems required (Electronic Health Records systems, billing systems, etc. a plus)
  • Sales training is a plus

  • Effectively communicate pertinent information to other staff as needed

DUTIES

    Medical Duties, Depending Upon Experience

    • Phlebotomy
    • Direct patients to proper exam/treatment room
    • Perform a range of routine clinical and clerical duties to support professional patient care under direct supervision of a provider
    • Obtain lab reports for physician's review
    • Call patients to accurately and confidently relay lab results as directed by physicians
    • Call in prescriptions as directed by physicians
    • Order patient supplies, as needed, to assure adequate stocking
    • Contact facilities to schedule patients for ancillary services
    • Contact insurance companies to obtain appropriate authorizations for procedures and medications
    • Verify patient benefits and documents findings with appropriate staff. Contacts patients with any questions or problems
    • Use universal precautions including personal protective equipment for anticipated contact with blood or other potentially infectious waste
    • Provide patient mobility assistance, as necessary
    • Ensure that all bio-hazardous waste supplies are ordered from supplier
    • Ensure that company picks up all bio-hazardous wastes
    • Other duties, according to your interest

    Other Duties

    • Ability to effectively communicate our model of health care and why it’s different
    • Follow system (appropriate emails and workflow) for enrolling corporate and individual clients
    • Greet and make patients feel comfortable and welcome
    • Field all patient questions and concerns to appropriate staff, with tact and kindness
    • Schedule appointments
    • Sell membership and supplements
    • Manage practice documents, ensuring that they’re organized and updated according to the needs of the office
    • Ensure that chart preparation is complete and organized and all information is available for physician encounter
    • File all correspondence in medical record according to established guidelines and file all documents pertinent to patients
    • Obtain medical records from referring physicians
    • Perform all additional duties, as requested
    • Attend Administrative Meetings, as scheduled
    • Work as a member of the clinical team to provide quality and timely service to patients
    • Relay all telephone messages to the appropriate person promptly
    • Screen, communicate and respond to patient needs appropriately
    • Manage and update staff schedule
    • Open to ideas, according to interest
