The U.S. Secret Service recruits personnel of the highest caliber to carry out its integrated missions of investigation and protection. While the executive protection mission is known worldwide, the U.S. Secret Service’s investigative mission continues to grow due to developments in technology.

Special agents investigate violations of laws relating to financial crimes such as credit card and access device fraud, as well as computer-based attacks on the nation’s banking and telecommunications. In the field of protection Secret Service special agents develop and implement innovative strategies to mitigate threats to our nation’s leaders.

You’ll work to develop relationships within and across communities in support of our mission: To protect the American people and uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Frequent travel and reassignments to a variety of duty stations, occasionally including liaison assignments in foreign countries, are some of the unique opportunities that await a special agent.

  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Be at least 21 years of age at the time of application and younger than 37 at the time of receipt of a conditional offer of employment to continue in the application process. Applicants with veterans’ preference must be at least 21 years of age and younger than 40 at the time of receipt of a conditional offer of employment to continue in the application process.
