Job Description

Position Summary:

This position will be responsible to drive Operational Excellence (OpEx) across Forterra Drainage by providing overall leadership, training and coaching to plant operations which include all aspects of safety, quality, performance management, and continuous improvement for our cage manufacturing processes. Exhibit strong ownership of the cage manufacturing process, using a hands-on approach to train, coach, and improve processes. Demonstrate proactive, positive, "can-do" leadership by setting an example for all team members to follow.

Duties and Responsibilities: (ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS)

· Identify, develop, and implement cage manufacturing best practices across the Forterra

· Create and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Instructions (WI) and Standard Work

· Eliminate waste in the process by utilizing lean tools and thinking

· Demonstrate the capability to trouble shoot, solve and train team members on machine related issues

· Support implementation of a Preventative Maintence system to improve machine reliability and uptime

· Fostering a Continuous Improvement culture by creating a learning environment and mentoring team members

· Develop, coach and mentor team members on continuous improvement tools and Lean methodologies

· Executes company OpEx strategy associated with implementation of lean systems, in fast paced environments

· Supports MDI (Managing for Daily Improvement) by attending team daily huddles and providing coaching on safety, quality, productivity opportunities and wins

· Coordinates and helps administer Training & Development

· Works to create and maintain a safe work environment


Skills and Experience Requirements: (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)

· Minimum 3-10 years of experience in cage manufacturing with exposure to mesh wire rolling and KN/MBK processes. Experience with ASTM cage manufacturing specifications.

· Desire to achieve B.S in Engineering preferred - Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical

· Passionate about driving improvements to processes while driving measurable results

· Familiar with lean fundamentals - Lean Basics, 5S, Standard Work, Problem Solving, Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI), etc.

· Computer skills (MS Office, MS windows, Email, ERP)

· Should have team building and rapid execution abilities

· Develops systems and processes

· Have the ability to communicate effectively in English (Spanish is a plus, but not required).

· Fact-based problem solving by analyzing situations and problems

· Must possess organization, prioritization, and proactive problem-solving skills.

· Emotional Intelligence - Individual must be self-aware, have strong interpersonal skills, is adaptable, and able to collaborate with all levels from production team members to management level.

· Results Oriented - Has sound planning skills, knows how to execute against respective action plans, and regularly meets or exceeds target in a timely and cost-effective manner.

· Ability to apply effective time management and self-management skills.
