Job Description: Organizational Overview Food Bank of the Rockies has undergone an organizational transformation – creating best practices; transitioning from a scarcity to abundance philosophy; listening and responding to community needs; and exemplifying organizational values of service, integrity, diversity/inclusion/equity, collaboration, and service. Coinciding with this transformation, the organization underwent a rebranding in Colorado and Wyoming and faced the (continuing) perfect storm of challenges – increased need, increased food costs, decreases in donated and USDA food, and supply chain challenges – during a global pandemic with heavy reliance on our exceptional frontline workforce of staff and volunteers. Mission: We ignite the power of community to nourish people facing hunger Values: Service; Integrity; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; Collaboration; Innovation Summary The Chief Impact Officer serves as a key leader at Food Bank of the Rockies, as a direct liaison with oversight for: Western Slope and Wyoming distribution centers, and organizational strategy and effectiveness. The Chief Impact Officer serves as a public representative, thought partner, and strategist for Food Bank of the Rockies' public policy and advocacy work and relationships (conducted via Feeding Colorado – the partner state association of the five Feeding America food banks covering Colorado and Wyoming). With teams totaling 50+ team members and areas of oversight of great strategic importance, this position is integral to Food Bank of the Rockies' future success in meeting its mission – igniting the power of community to nourish people facing hunger. Primary Responsibilities:Serve as key leader and primary supervisor of Wyoming and Western Slope directors, including leadership coaching, strategy, and organization-wide consistency and effectiveness in marketing/communications, finance, development, and operations, while working closely with respective leadership team members Spearhead organizational strategy, including strategic planning, benchmarking, reporting, identifying KPIs, and ensuring alignment of programs and projects with strategic planLead integration of Food Bank of the Rockies' values (service, integrity, diversity/equity/inclusion, collaboration, and innovation) in organizational strategy, public policy, and Wyoming and Western Slope distribution centersServe as the primary Food Bank of the Rockies liaison, thought partner, and strategist for public policy and advocacy work (in partnership with Feeding Colorado's Senior Director of Public Policy & Communications), including assisting in the execution of the annual policy agenda; management of key community relationships on behalf of Food Bank of the Rockies; pursuit of capital and operating government funding opportunities; and public policy benchmarking, planning, and executionIn partnership with leadership team and People & Culture department, develop and oversee organization-wide annual goal and accountability systems and processesEnsure the alignment of all departments within the organization's strategic plan Develop and oversee systems and processes to enhance organization-wide and cross-departmental communication Spearhead integration of Food Bank of the Rockies' values throughout the organizationLead office space utilization policies and practices, including potential migration to hoteling system, planning for new office space, and move logistics Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Lead through influence; ability to prioritize and communicate with staff about key objectives necessary to achieve organizational goals Balanced strategic thinking and strong operator; highly results-orientedInnovative and forward-thinking; listens for emerging trends from staff and community; able to translate new ideas into actionExcellent relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholdersStrong business acumen and ability to contribute to strategy; adept at integrating key business goals and strategies to deliver on the missionA sense of humor and the personal qualities of integrity, entrepreneurial spirit, calm under fire, and commitment to striving for continuous improvementAbility to identify and resolve problems promptly and gather and analyze information skillfullyAbility to delegate work assignments, providing authority to work independently and set expectationsAbility to motivate others to perform well and accept feedback from othersAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionWillingness to make decisions; exhibits sound and accurate judgment and makes timely decisionsAbility to organize work, time, and selfProven track record in exercising sound judgment and discretion CommunicationsExcellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to relate well to all levels of the organization, ability to build appropriate rapport, ability to build constructive and effective relationships Demonstrates group presentation skills and conducts productive meetingsExcellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively coach and mentor team members; collaborate and build relationships, and leverage resources within the function and across the organization to achieve desired outcomes Ability to communicate the branded message internally (mission, vision, values Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language fluently, and communicate verbally and in writing at a professional levelAbility to effectively present information and proactively and responsively present information to internal and external audiences Computer SkillsStrong technical skills with the ability to utilize various technology and learn new technology quicklyTo perform this job successfully, the individual should have advanced knowledge of the following computer software programs:Microsoft Office Suite Blackbaud Raiser's Edge and/or Bloomerang a plus Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Occasionally lift or move up to 20 poundsFrequently operating and navigating a vehicle within rural communities Required Qualifications:College degree in a relevant field; or equivalent work experience with an advanced degree; or equivalent work experienceMinimum 10 years experience management and leadership experience, including experience managing teams of employees and managing from afar in a nonprofit settingDemonstrated senior leadership with strategic and budget planning/reporting experience in complex organizationsDemonstrated experience creating, executing, and reporting on complex organizational goals and strategic plansExemplary leadership experience, including group facilitation, effective meeting execution, complex problem solving, coaching, and mentoringPreferred Qualifications:Demonstrated public policy and advocacy expertise, ideally including oversight of complex policy function at a mid-sized or large nonprofit organization Proven experience building deeply collaborative community relationships and partnerships Extensive governance experience, including serving on and/or reporting to Boards of Directors in varied settingsFundraising experience with individual, foundation, and corporate donors totaling multi-million dollar annual budgets a plus Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, exempt position. A flexible work schedule that includes remote work is available. Travel is required to visit Western Slope and Wyoming distribution centers (about 25% - 30%).
