Job Title: ASC Endoscopy Technician
Reports to: Endoscopy Charge Nurse
Job Summary: This position will assists the physician during procedures by anticipating the required supplies and instruments to perform the procedure. **1 year of related experience required.**

THE KEYS TO SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE INCLUDE:

Essential Functions:
- Sets up room to ensure all necessary supplies are available prior to initiation of cases
- Anticipates physician needs and reacts accordingly
- Assists physicians with procedures, according to physician preference and requests while preventing cross contamination. Assists with:
- Cold biopsies
- Hot biopsies
- Polypectomies
- Tattoing
- Dilations, Balloon , Savary, and Maloney
- Sclerotherapy
- PEG Tube replacement / replacement
- Gold probe coagulation
- Brushings
- Disinfects instruments according to current guidelines
- Sterilizes instruments and supplies
- Maintains documentation requirements
- Assists RN and CRNA
- Sets up for oral suctioning
- Assists with patient positioning
- Assists with stretcher transport
- Uses ProVation system
- Troubleshoots technical problems utilizing ProVation Customer Tech Support
- Enters patient demographic information, room personnel, and scope # into the ProVation system prior to each case
- Participates in the time out to ensure accuracy.
- Maintains inventory PAR levels and stocks room
- Tracks inventory needs for ordering
- Receives and distributes supplies at time of delivery to appropriate locations
- Follows universal precautions
- Terminally cleans procedure rooms daily and /or as needed.
- Maintains necessary logs
- Eye Wash station testing
- All Scope room logs
- Sterilization records
- Documents in the medical record, as necessary
- Ensures all entries are legible, timely and concise
- Authenticates all entries
- Completes chart corrections in ProVation Daily and ensures all charts are locked in secure location at end of shift.
- Adheres to all FMC and unit policies and procedures
- Attends and participates in staff meetings
- Maintains unit training requirements
- Six annual core in-services using SGNA guidelines
- Annual Risk Management education
- Annual OSHA training
- Competencies, as required
- BLS
- Participates in quarterly fire drills as required for AHCA Life Safety
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assists in PACU area, when time allows
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
- Travel to different FMC work locations as requested
Job Qualifications:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Understanding of aseptic technique principles
- Strong customer service orientation
- Basic computer proficiency
- Current BLS
- 1 year of related experience required
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Normal physical ability; able to sit and stand for long periods
- Requires ability to frequently bend, walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods
- The ability to think critically and act logically to evaluate situations, solve problems and make appropriate decisions
- High level verbal and written communication skills
- Detailed oriented individual with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
