Safety Officer

We are seeking a Safety Officer to join our team. The Safety Officer is primarily responsible for communicating and enforcing the company's safety program.

Qualifications -

• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Experience in underground utility construction is a plus. Excavations & Confined Spaces.
• Experience or understanding with local, federal and jurisdiction regulations and standards a plus. (OSHA, MUTCD, ANSI, EPA)
• Current certification in First-Aid, CPR and {OSHA 30 - Construction} preferred but not required.

Responsibilities -

• Perform daily site safety inspections.
• Recognize potential hazards. Address and recommend effective corrective actions.
• Form a positive rapport.
• Promote weekly toolbox talk information to all Flippo employees.
• Maintain and promote safety curriculum and deliver training to field crews using the Safety, Wellness, and Training Van. (SWAT)
• Purchase and maintain inventory of safety supplies.
• Conduct and participate in monthly trainings / meetings.
• File routine reports and forms.
• Assist in the Safety Awards Program and associated events.
• Monitor subcontractor safety performance.
• Be directly involved with the disciplinary action process and understand when policy is not followed.
• Investigate accidents or incidents.
• Conduct root cause analysis and present to management team.
• Work closely with insurance companies and outside representatives.
• Review Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) in the field and inform staff of current status, revisions or comments before commencement of the work.

Requirements -

• Experience in a safety related role.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must have a valid driver's license and able to meet company's driving record requirements.
• Must have effective verbal and written communication.
• Must be experienced using Microsoft office apps.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Must be able to pass a government background check.
• Must be able to lift 25lbs and walk on uneven terrain.
