Under the direction of a partner or manager, perform pre-audit planning and fieldwork for engagements, reviewing auditee accounting and operating procedures. Assist with the preparation of risk assessment and the planning of audit programs. Perform internal control planning and testing to support an audit opinion, including, but not limited to: preparing supporting work paper documentation and conducting analytical reviews of account balances. Research technical issues that arise during the course of audit engagements. Create draft audit reports for management review.
Under the direction of a partner or manager, participate in client engagements by providing corporate, partnership and individual tax services. Prepare and/or review returns for corporate, partnership, or individuals, including federal, state and local tax returns, estimated payments and extensions. Build relationships with existing clients, including involvement in networking and business development activities.
Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting, or a related field, from a four-year college or university.
Accounting software knowledge.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS), and other accounting standards & pronouncements.
Excellent customer service skills.
Creative problem solving, critical thinking and research skills.
Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
Highly motivated and takes initiative for professional growth and development.
Ability to travel to client locations, which could include overnight stays, in particular between August and December.
Ability to work overtime, as needed.
A minimum of two years related experience and/or training with an emphasis in governmental and nonprofit auditing & income tax preparation.
CPA candidate or CPA preferred.
Remain in a seated position for an extended period, using hands and fingers to type, pick up papers, place phone calls. Occasional lifting (maximum 20 lbs.), bending, reaching and/or kneeling.
