Job Description
Our growing Communications and Community Engagement Department is a seeking a Graphic and Web Designer, to help support visual content production for six major divisions and 50+ internal programs. The right candidate is someone with a broad range of design skills who is capable of working across a variety of digital and print platforms and transition files into final production-ready designs which promote our agency’s vision and mission. The position requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects with varying deadlines. The employee must have excellent communications skills and must have the discretion and poise necessary to deal with sensitive and confidential situations. The right candidate uses judgment and discretion to solve problems where answers are not always apparent; exercising independent judgement and resolves non-routine situations, based on knowledge of established policies and procedures. In this role, the Designer will work on promotional marketing projects such as email newsletters, website (responsive desktop/mobile), social media engagement, as well as other marketing, communications, and administrative tasks as needed. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Graphic Design - Visual design content production for 50+ programs. Support communications efforts for the CEO and directors in six divisions.
  • Print Design - Responsible for updating our current assets and creating new ones in collaboration with our team. Editing printed graphic design deliverables, including program brochures, flyers, postcards, hanging signs and a-frames, banners, posters, event flyers and invites, graphics for social media posts, infographics, and more.
  • Web Design - Contribute content updates to multiple WordPress websites using established templates, styles, and Theme Builder. Formatting monthly news articles on our main website.
  • Email Marketing and Outreach Design - E-newsletters and email marketing with Constant Contact. Supporting program managers in PowerPoint presentation design.
  • Social Media Engagement – Assist communication team members with social media campaigns, but also independently research content to capitalize off of engaging social/viral trends.
  • Photography - Source and edit high-resolution public domain photos that represent the diverse populations we serve.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Tasks and Expectations:

Follow Established Branding Guidelines

  • Able to creatively work within defined style guides and ensure that all design deliverables comply with the Felton corporate branding guidelines.
  • Implement cohesive design branding across all company marketing pieces including colors, fonts, and style.
  • Maintain and defend the integrity of a cohesive brand voice and identity through copywriting, social media engagement, content, visuals, and graphic across all marketing content graphics both online and printed.

Collaboration

  • Work with communications team to carry through the execution of design layouts.
  • Being a self-starter, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with other communications team members.
  • Skillfully handle constructive feedback, suggestions, and edits in a professional and nimble manner in order to improve projects.
  • Good communication skills and responsiveness to feedback.
  • Confident in sharing ideas yet understanding direction.

Organization

  • Contribute to and help maintain the Communications Department electronic file organization.
  • Maintain best practices for file and server management, including the consistent application of naming conventions, file/folder organization, versioning control, and more.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of professional graphic design experience for web and print.
  • Social media savvy. Should be familiar with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Interest in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA Standards, WAVE Accessibility testing, Color Contrast checker).
  • Familiarity and courses in the Adobe Creative Cloud applications; Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • An understanding of responsive design and ability to think mobile first.
  • Basic understanding of HTML and CSS.
  • Advanced computer abilities, tech-savvy and comfortable adapting to new platforms and online tools.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing tactics, such as SEO and email marketing and social media rules and strategies.
  • Knowledgeable of copyright laws as it pertains to intellectual property infringement, fair use, and copyright of creative work in order to create unique content with integrity.
  • Experience in the non-profit field a plus
  • Experience working with the BiPOC community
  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience as well as a strong portfolio with a range of projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills
  • Capable of minimal supervision, proactive, resourceful, excellent follow-through
  • Ability to respond to unanticipated circumstances with a calm and professional demeanor
  • Highly dependable and punctual
