Engineering Internship (Iowa State Career Fair)
- Posted: over a month ago
We are looking for motivated college students to join our team during school breaks as an Engineering Intern in any of our 11 offices.
What you'll do
As an intern, you will report to a Fehr Graham Project Manager on one or several projects. That Project Manager will ensure your internship is enriching and relevant to your coursework. You'll help with construction observation, including measuring quantities and ensuring construction is completed to standards. There may be opportunities for exposure to surveying. You'll review and edit engineering plans to create a product that meets Fehr Graham standards. Depending on the project, office or fieldwork will be required. Office duties will allow you to sharpen your CAD skills, complete basic design computations and help the project team complete deliverables. You will learn engineering standards and how state and local regulations are incorporated into design through work in the office and in the field. We promote a team environment, so you'll collaborate with engineers, environmental scientists and many more people. And you'll develop leadership skills that build autonomy.
What it takes
The best intern candidates are self-starters and eager to learn. You must be pursuing an undergraduate, four-year degree in Civil Engineering. You must be familiar with or able to read blueprints. You should work well independently and within a team. You should speak and write well. And you should have strong analytical and organizational skills. You must be a team player.
What you'll get
You'll have plenty of opportunities to grow at our progressive and aggressive firm, which started in 1973. Learn more about Fehr Graham's people, culture and projects on our website.
