Operates as an Aviation Safety Assistant in a Flight Standards field
office. Provides administrative and semi-technical related support
to the supervisor, or manager, Aviation Safety Inspectors, and
Administrative Officer by utilizing advanced automation system tools
relevant in the Safety Assurance System environment which includes,
but is not limited to obtaining background data, preparing reports,
reviewing applications, interviewing applicants, processing
certificates, and maintaining technical and administrative files.
Occasional travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time,
but not on a regular basis. The travel may be for training or other

To qualify for this position at the FG-7 grade, you must demonstrate
in your application that you possess at least one year of
specialized experience equivalent to FG/GS-6 in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the
particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully
the duties of the position. Specialized experience may include but
not limited to: performing a variety of clerical work such as
preparing reports; assisting in interpreting and implementing newly
modified agency directives and determining action needed;
researching, writing and typing technical and non-technical
correspondence and reports; instructing personnel on administrative
policies and procedures; researching technical data; interpreting
directives; examining documents for accuracy and completeness;
entering and retrieving information from a variety of automated
systems; and explaining administrative requirements and processes to
customers with minimal supervision and/or guidance. There is no
substitution of education at this grade.
