Job Title: Technical Writer/Editor I
Job Summary:
This position is in support of the National Science Foundation (NSF). The TW/Editor I primary position is in the Office of the Director (OD) working directly with the Senior Staff Associate, who manages the Director's engagements.
This TW/Editor position will also work in coordination with Office of Legislative and Public Affairs (OLPA) staff, content experts among program staff at NSF, and external event organizers to develop briefing books for the Director's upcoming travel and associated meetings and events. Briefing books can be 100-200 pages long with a great amount of detail encompassing every aspect of the upcoming trip.

Job Summary:

Responsibilities Include:
- Develop briefing books for the director's upcoming travel and associated meetings and events; these books will include itineraries, meeting agendas, background documents, biographies of meeting and event participants, background material on NSF-funded facilities and projects, travel information, and other logistics details.
- Work with OLPA and program staff (depending on the type of engagement) to collect the required information. If the information is not readily available, this person must be capable of researching the organizer's websites to develop the information and comfortable reaching out to the appropriate content experts.
- Review invitations for speaking engagement and meetings, triage invites, and draft acceptance and rejection letters based on instruction from the Senior Staff Associate in OD, who meets regularly with the NSF Director.
- Share knowledge inside and across groups, working collaboratively to collect and develop materials.
- Think through the chronological order of events and determine what information needs to be collected for inclusion on the itinerary. Such as, if the Director needs to be at meeting at 8:00 a.m., what is the address, what are instructions for parking, etc.?
- Create award information pages, develop memos with background information.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in using Adobe Acrobat Pro to create complicated PDF files with internal links and bookmarks
- Experience developing summaries and comms for a director
- Strong technical writing and editing skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Initiative to reach out and follow up with stakeholders
Work Setting and Environment:
- Monday - Friday, normal working hours
- Work on the weekends and evenings will be required intermittently.
- Work is to be performed remotely
