Job Description

Job Title: Data Collector

Job Summary:

This position is in support of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) Amphibious Vehicle Test branch (AVTB). The data collector will provide daily operational support to the military or civilian leadership personnel at AVTB.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Recording observations and data on the performance of each system under test (SUT)
  • Writing accurate and detailed TIRs.
  • Archiving data to support all RDT&E, DT, and OT test events
  • Managing databases in support of test report generation
  • Recording results and observations for lab and field testing
  • Developing a data collector's binder detailing work performed
  • Documenting detailed information when a test article fails to perform in a manner consistent with the operational mission profile, test article operational publications, or parameters established in the DTP
  • Documenting observations relating to operational mission profile tests
  • Manually entering test data from completed test events to the government designated database
  • Maintaining data collection binder(s) for the SUT, including logs, TIRs, and manual data collection forms
  • Driving a government truck/SUV to the required testing location
  • Managing surveys, both electronic and paper
  • Guiding Marine data collection
  • Installing basic Global Positioning System (GPS) instrumentation onto the test platform
  • Documenting deviations from test plans
  • Collecting and recording TIRs and operation logs from Marine data collectors
  • Disseminating and collecting surveys

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Valid driver's license
  • High school diploma
  • 1 - 5 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Ability to enter and ride in a variety of land and water military tactical and combat vehicles
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment, potentially during uncomfortable temperatures or inclement weather
  • Ability to flex schedule to accommodate various testing schedules

  • Bachelor's degree

Work Setting and Environment:

  • Monday - Friday, with some non-standard working hours
  • Full-time, temporary position, April - July
  • Standard working hours are 7 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Non-standard working hours are 6 AM - 7 AM, and 3:30 PM - 12 AM
    • Work hours may be extended to Saturday and Sunday as needed
  • Work is to be performed at Camp Pendleton, CA
  • Salary: $57, 800 - $69,660
