Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

This role is responsible for the development and daily operations of a mental health program providing live and virtual services stationed out of Elkton, MD. This position is responsible for grant reporting and budgeting of the department. This position is responsible for staffing and oversight of clinical team. This position is responsible for weekly face-to-face individual and group supervision with clinical team, crisis management as needed, and coordination of staffing coverage to ensure uninterrupted and quality patient care. This role maintains a caseload and is responsible for coordination with outside resources and referral sources. Responsible for the environment of the assigned location and coordination with facilities and vendors to ensure high quality results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management

  • Responsible for the development and growth of program.
  • Acting project manager for current and future grant awards
  • Oversees preparation, submission and tracking of grant proposals
  • Prepares and maintains relevant documentation for grant reporting, progress reviews and performance evaluations
  • Acts as main point of contact for the awarding organization (SAMHSA)
  • Meets monthly with Grants Program Officer of the awarding organization (SAMHSA)

Documentation Standards

  • Ensure that documentation is completed thoroughly and in a timely fashion as indicated by agency and state standards.
  • Coordinate with HIM team related to timelines for note closure. Monitor for unlocked notes, alerting staff of deficiencies.
  • Work with clinical team to reduce rate of errors through coaching and providing education and trainings in common errors.

Backup

  • Provides coverage as needed to ensure that the quality of patient care is uninterrupted during staffing absences.

Caseload Responsibilities

  • Maintain a caseload of mental health patients.
  • Conduct individual sessions per agency and state timelines.
  • Manage treatment plan throughout patient duration of treatment.
  • Complete discharge documentation.
  • Ensure that all documentation completed meets Medical Record Standards.

Supervisory Duties

  • Reviews and supervisory signs for Therapists as needed.
  • Provides regular auditing of all charts to ensure that charts meet state and agency standards for documentation and treatment.
  • Meets with each supervisee individually and in group supervision weekly (face to face).
  • Auditing charts weekly for compliance to ensure successful auditing for BHA, Commercial, Medicaid and TJC.
  • Reviewing and approving Assessment, Master Treatment Plan and Treatment Plan Review/Updates, Individual notes; review, provide feedback, and sign with supervisory signature within required agency and state timelines.
  • Provide coverage for emergency phone line.

Staff Selection and Training

  • Participates in the interview process.
  • Responsible for the training of all new clinical staff, to include detailed and individualized training schedule.
  • Facilitates staffing schedule.
  • Holds discussions with clinical staff related to personal/professional growth and areas for improvement in their role.
  • Provides field supervision for master’s level intern for social work and/or counseling.
  • Ensure supervisees timesheets and leave requests, are complete, accurate, and in compliance with agency policies.

Site Compliance

  • Maintains location to assure Joint Commission accreditation as well as maintaining levels of standards required by BHA, Medicaid and Commercial insurances for routine audits.

Care Coordination

  • Completes routine progress reports for patients involved in EAP, Probation, DSS and other outside resources. Communicates with family members and referral sources.
  • Oversees program communication with patient family/support system.

Utilization Reviews

  • Coordinates with UR Department to advocate for patient treatment through detailed and individualized UR notes.
  • Participates in Peer to Peer reviews and advocates for the appropriate level of care needed to effectively treat the patient as needed.

Environment

  • Ensuring that the environment of the mental health program meets the standards of our agency and accrediting body through performing routine walkthroughs of both sites and working with janitorial service and facilities to ensure that the environment is clean and orderly.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES FOR IOP CLINICAL SUPERVISOR:

  • Required- Masters level licensure, at minimum LMSW, LGPC, LGADC, with at least 2 years post-graduate experience in substance use disorder treatment.
  • Preferred – LCSW-C or LCPC
  • Recommended–Approval to supervise by the Board of Social Worker Examiners and LGPC approved supervisor and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Approved Supervisor by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors & Therapists.
  • Clear understanding of ASAM criteria and DSM V.
  • Must be able to speak and write clearly.
  • Minimal mathematical skills necessary.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Interpret educational material, assessments, and treatment plans so are understood by patient community; able to probe and draw out thoughts, feelings, problems, concerns and fears of the patient.
  • CPR certified.
  • Must have ability to travel to and work at other Ashley locations as needed.
