POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the residential clinical programming. Focuses on quality of treatment provided through face-to-face clinical supervision and coaching, conducting case consultation and organizing trainings for staff. Responsible for implementation of developed workflows into the residential clinical program. Coordinate with other Ashley departments to ensure compliance in areas of billing, safety and infection prevention.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Management
  • Responsible for departmental budgets and monitors program performance according to set budget guidelines.
  • Direct oversight of supervisors and managers for residential programs.
  • Ensure that Model of Care initiatives related to curriculum, supervision and employee wellness are implemented and sustained.
  • Ensures clinical coverage for patient care, including holidays, weekends and weather emergencies.
  • Monitor quality and consistency of treatment provided for each clinical program. Track program improvement efforts to ensure best patient outcomes.

Documentation Standards
  • Ensure that all documentation for residential programming is completed thoroughly and in a timely fashion as indicated by agency and state standards. Ensure consistency in quality and frequency of documentation.
  • Provide oversight related to timelines for note initiation, completion and closure. Monitor for unlocked notes, alerting staff of deficiencies.
  • Coordination with HIM and work with supervisors, managers and staff to reduce rate of errors.

Backup
  • Position may require providing coverage in the event of staffing absences to ensure that the quality of patient care is uninterrupted.

Clinical Supervisory Duties
  • Reviews and provides feedback for documentation for all counselors currently under supervision. To include: reviewing assessment, initial Treatment Plan and Treatment Plan Review/Updates; review, provide feedback, and sign with supervisory signature (if needed) within required agency and state timelines.
  • Provides regular auditing of all charts to ensure that charts meet state and agency standards for documentation and treatment.
  • Review clinical documentation for prospective patients for suitability for treatment at residential level of care.
  • Meets with each supervisee individually and in group supervision weekly (face to face).
  • Ensures care coordination with referral sources and outside resources is conducted. Communicates with family members and referral sources.
  • Responsible for staff and patient compliance with patient research initiatives, such as Trac9 and Whoop.
  • Provides support and guidance to clinical team for managing crisis situations.
  • Evaluate individual and overall team performance on an ongoing basis; use collected data to adjust therapist/counselor caseloads and work assignments to maximize quality of care, and staff productivity.


Staff Selection and Training
  • Participates in the interview process.
  • Responsible for the training of all new clinical staff, to include detailed and individualized training schedule.
  • Responsible for arranging staff continued education and competencies.
  • Coordinates with supervisors and managers to ensure that there is clinical coverage for all patient services.
  • Assists with staff credentialing process as needed.
  • Holds discussions with clinical staff related to personal/professional growth and areas for improvement in their role.
  • Provides field supervision for master's level intern for social work and/or counseling.
  • Directs implementation and follow up of workflows developed for new procedures.
  • Notifies clinical staff of any policy or procedural changes relative to their respective duties.

Program Compliance
  • Maintains all practices to assure Joint Commission accreditation as well as maintaining levels of standards required by BHA and insurances. Leads clinical aspects of surveys.
  • Maintains a familiarity with licensing and insurance requirements for services rendered.
  • Works with in conjunction with Quality/Compliance department to improve and maintain quality of care.

Utilization Reviews
  • Ensures that charts are ready for U.R. reviews as established by U.R. report.
  • Participates in Peer to Peer reviews and advocates for the appropriate level of care needed to effectively treat the patient.

Environment
  • Ensuring that the environment of the residential program meets the standards of our agency and accrediting body through performing routine walkthroughs of all residential buildings and working with janitorial service and facilities to ensure that the environment is clean and orderly.
  • Coordinate with Infection Prevention Manager and Safety and Security Manager to ensure patient and staff safety.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Preferred- LCSW-C or LCPC; experience in counseling required.
  • Preferred- Experience in clinical supervision. Approval to supervise by the Board of Social Worker Examiners; LGPC approved supervisor and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Approved Supervisor by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors & Therapists.
  • Clear understanding of ASAM criteria.
  • Must be able to speak and write clearly.
  • Minimal mathematical skills necessary.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Interpret educational material, assessments, and treatment plans so are understood by patient community; able to probe and draw out thoughts, feelings, problems, concerns and fears of the patient.
  • CPR certified.
  • This position requires ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays and weather emergencies as needed.
