As a Data Governance Specialist you will work as part of an integrated technology team within the Enfield CT office location. The position will coordinate the organizations quality, security, and maintenance of data, define data elements, work with senior management on establishing and changing policies, as well as test on data systems to ensure accuracy and quality of data. Paramount to this position is ensuring that sufficient data quality is maintained so that the data can effectively support the business process and provide insights to all staff and management.
Responsibilities of the incumbent will vary in scope and depth, and will be tailored to multiple audiences both internally and externally facing. This position will help to promote a partnership and value-added style relationship with Association staff and our external strategic partner Financial Partners Inc. Emphasis will be placed on an understanding of modern data governance practices particular to a financial institution as well as the ability to effectively collaborate within the technology department and across broad parts of the organization.
Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
1. Data Governance / Management Reporting: Support the data needs from across the organization by developing, implementing, and reinforcing policies that ensure quality, security, and maintenance of data. Collaborating across the organization to effectively carry out and make improvements to the Associations short term and long term data governance plan. A general understanding of Microsoft Azure, Power BI, Business Objects, and Sharepoint is desirable in addition to a general working knowledge of core systems such as Microsoft SQL, SalesForce, nCino, and Fiserv DNA. The Data Governance Specialist will oversee and analyze strategies designed to enhance data reliability and minimize redundancies.
1. COMMUNICATION AND TEAMWORK: Critical to the technology function and success of our organization is clear, concise, and useful verbal and written communication to Association management, staff, and external parties. The incumbent is expected to contribute to a team atmosphere. This includes establishing a good working rapport with Association personnel, and promoting a partnership type relationship between credit, financial services, Financial Partners Inc, and other external stakeholders. Provide outstanding customer service (both internal and external) and deliver exceptional value by setting, communicating and meeting business needs and expectations. Demonstrate a strong community commitment and professional presence that contributes to the overall positive image of the Association. Act in a forthright and ethical manner, display a positive attitude, and contribute positively to the overall morale of the team and association. Assist other team members and contribute to training.
1. OTHER: Conduct and complete all other duties (as assigned) in a timely and effective manner. The Data Governance Specialist will be actively involved in various project teams providing subject matter expertise to move the projects forward. This position may have opportunities to be assigned to various Association working committees. Be actively involved in assigned committees assuring that involvement adds value to the technology team and Association.
Position requires a Bachelors Degree in Data Management, Computer Science, Accounting, Business, or a related field with solid understanding of modern data governance practices and software suites specific to a financial institution. The incumbent is preferred to have 3-7 years of experience within a financial services or technology support organization.
