Job Description For:  Accounting/Controller  

Reports to: Patricia M Soldano, President of both companies

Summary: Responsible for the overall implementation of accounting policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures, including daily processing and maintenance.

Companies: Policy and Taxation Group and Family Enterprise USA; Remote | Contract/Hourly | $75 - $90 / Hourly / Part-time

Description

Opportunity to work at two related Non-Profit companies reporting to the President. Responsible for monitoring and implementing accounting policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures, including daily processing and maintenance. Most of the time spent producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During monthly close, many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility. In addition, your responsibilities include preparing tax return Form 990 workpapers, and communicating with external CPA firm for year-end tax return preparation.

Responsibilities

Financial:

Ø  Reconcile accounting books for two prominent companies.

Ø  Prepare financial statements, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow, and Budget to Actual and Donor Schedule; quarterly or as needed.

Ø  Prepare tax work papers for CPA firm and correspond with them as needed.

Ø  Communicate cash position to Director, including obtaining required authorizations, monthly or as needed.

Ø  Monitor and prepare bill payments as needed.

Ø  Review and manage insurance coverage with President.

Ø  Prepare necessary State and Federal Business tax payments/state registrations.

Ø  Responsible for monitoring post office activity for donation checks and handling mobile deposits and related record keeping.

Ø  Send invoices as requested by President or Donor.

Record Maintenance:

Ø  Update and reconcile accounting records & source documents, maintained digitally.

Ø  Maintain monitoring schedules for sponsorships, board of directors, and other areas of operations, as needed.

Ø  Update CRM for the financial activity of donors.

Ø  Assist Fundraising personnel and Marketing personnel, monitoring activity when needed.

Qualifications Needed:

Ø  BA/BS or equivalent in accounting; CPA preferred

Ø  Proficient in “Xero” Accounting package (or willing to learn)

Ø  Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases (Microsoft)

Ø  Self-driven motivator who takes the initiative on projects with a solid ability to understand and solve creative challenges

Ø  Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills; Work independently
