Perform duties to select parts from stockroom, mount and assemble into and on chassis, boards, drawers, panels, cabinets a variety of electronic, electrical, and mechanical components and parts such as switches, transformers, generators, cables, connectors according to prescribed procedures and practices; perform simple quality checks and tests and keep required records.
Work from check lists, diagrams, specifications, schedules, standard practices, procedures, written and oral instructions. Use small tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, other work aids such as hand trucks, lifts, hoists, brunches and other cleaning aids.
From lists supplied, pick parts and components from storage area and transport to assembly area. Move appropriate cabinet or base to work station; position each part in its designated location and fasten according to procedure. As necessary, screw, bolt, attach parts, cables, sub-assemblies. Frequently move very light to light materials; infrequently move or lift average to heavy parts or assemblies.
Attach ends of cables to designated terminals; as required protect with prescribed wrapping material. As panels, drawers, boards, other units are completed, combine into larger component or cabinet. Perform simple quality inspection such as visual and electrical continuity checks; make corrections, adjustments if required. Store, move, wrap work according to procedures.
Maintain work areas clean and neat. Dispose of scrap, waste in designated receptacles. Maintain required records and logs. Perform other work related to assembly and work area as required, such as assist with new assembly or move material. Report unusual or problem circumstances or suggestions to supervisor or another designated individual. Comply with safety and other company rules, regulations, practices.
