Bilingual Medical Receptionist

Job Summary: Bilingual (Spanish) Medical office support staff

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Normal physical ability; able to sit for long periods
  • Normal concentration and normal complexity of decision making
  • High level verbal and written communication skills
  • Above average ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to adjust to changes in work routine

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Manage phone calls
    • Schedule appointments
    • Take messages
    • Create telephone encounters in eClinical Works
    • Assist with medication refill requests
    • Assist vendors
    • Handle customer requests or needs
    • Direct calls to the proper individual
    • Address eClinical Works tasks in a timely manner
    • Clear voicemail daily and address messages
    • Place phones on/off service
  • Field incoming referrals
    • Register new patients
    • Verify eligibility of insurance & co-pay amount
    • Ensure referral is present if needed
    • Input referral into eCW
    • Confirm demographics of existing patients
    • Send LOP request to attorney for MVA new patients
    • Obtain radiology reports

· Distribute incoming faxes

· File paper charts

· Follow up on no-shows and cancellations

· Fax completed notes to referring provider/case managers

· Greet all visitors with a cheerful smile and helpful attitude

· Monitor the lobby for cleanliness and patients in distress

· Sign for packages and manage mail

· Obtain patient signature for record release and other forms as necessary

· Collect outstanding patient balances

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an organized and clean work area
  • Direct incoming mail to correct staff members
  • Participate in maintenance of office supplies
  • Make copies as needed
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned

Occupational Exposure:

  • Low risk exposure to blood-borne pathogens and chemical hazards

Job Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Strong team player
  • Computer proficient
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • Two years of related experience preferred
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish)
