Job Description

SUMMARY: Sells insurance to new and current clients by directly contributing to and supporting sales goals of the agency or specialist department as communicated from the agent, to meet long-term and short-term goals for agency growth; to include new business, cross-sell opportunities, customer service, retention and profit goals. 


 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES, include but are not limited to:

  • Holds and maintains a Property and Casualty Insurance and Life /Health Insurance License or able to obtain license for the following states: CA, TX, AZ, NV, OR, WA, NM, ID

  • Consistently solicits and writes new business for his/her specialist department

  • Compiles lists of prospective clients to provide leads for additional business. 

  • Contacts and qualifies prospective clients and explains features and merits of policies offered, recommending amount and type of coverage based on analysis of prospect’s circumstances. 

  • Prepare applications and submissions for quotes for clients.

  • Calls on policyholders to deliver and explain policy, to suggest additions or changes to insurance programs, or to make changes in beneficiaries. 

  • Collects premiums from policyholders and keeps records of payments. 

  • Provides underwriting and rating for new accounts

  • Maintains knowledge of new products and initiatives. 

  • Consistently pursues a program for development of personal and business skills.

  • Actively solicits expiration dates from new clients and prospects.

  • Develops agency relationship with existing clients

  • Meets the production requirements and goals assigned by the sales manager. 

  • Maintains monthly sales record and provides a copy for review to the sales  manager.

  • Demonstrates consistent drive and productivity.

  • Requires limited supervision.

  • Works well with others; establishes and maintains effective work relationships.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidate will have basic PC skills, basic math skills, strong analytical capability, conflict resolution skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

 

  • Insurance license(s) - consistently adheres to industry standards and regulations in all matters. 

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

- REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university

 

- HIGHLY PREFERRED: Previous customer service experience

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. in English Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public in English.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 

 

REASONING ABILITY

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form in English. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
