Role: Quality Assurance Engineer: Return-ship

The Path Forward Return to Work program at FIA Tech is a 16-week paid return-ship for experienced professionals returning to the workforce after taking time off for caregiving. The program is open to individuals who have at least 5 years of professional experience and have been out of the paid workforce for at least two years to focus on caring for a child or other dependent. Although this role is mostly remote, we will require monthly team meetings in the NYC office so candidates located in NJ, NY, PA or CT are highly preferred.

Overview

The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer reports to the VP, Head of Research and Development of FIA Tech, and is responsible for oversight and implementation of our internal software testing program. The QA Engineer will implement the testing of our products, report results to the stake holders, and ensure that FIA Tech delivers only the highest quality products to our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement internal QA testing of firm developed software products.
  • Participate in design and development of software products as an integral team member
  • Review Acceptance Criteria to create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases
  • Perform various testing to include functional, smoke, regression and negative testing
  • Log enhancement requests and bugs in an issue tracker with detailed steps and screenshots to recreate the issue
  • Trace requirements to test cases to ensure adequate coverage
  • Smoke test new environments and production pushes as needed
  • Adapt testing techniques to satisfy evolving testing requirements
  • Create and maintain automated test cases
  • Identify and document defects and steps to replicate
  • Perform thorough regression testing when defects are resolved

Requirements:

  • University degree, preferably computer science.
  • 3+ years’ experience in testing production software systems.
  • 1+ years’ experience programming in an object-oriented language, such as Java, or C#, or equivalent experience in scripting languages
  • Familiarity with software test automation tools, QA methodologies and processes
  • Ability to integrate with a diverse software development team.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet user needs and solve business problems.
  • Ability to work with users in locations around the world.
  • Familiarity with common application architectures and technologies
  • Experience with multiple computing platforms commonly used in the financial services industry.
  • Proven work experience in quality assurance for a software development team
  • Knowledge and experience in working with Agile development methodology
  • Experience writing tests that evaluate data accuracy in SQL
  • Familiarity with cross-browser compatibility and web standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Jira, Jenkins, Selenium and Cucumber tool is a plus
  • Experience with performance testing is a plus
  • Experience in financial services is a plus
