The Assistant General Counsel / Senior Counsel position provides legal support to the Credit, Loan Services, and Marketplace departments, as well as the Risk Asset Unit. This position also supports the General Counsel on other Association legal matters and provides legal support to other association departments as directed. Expert knowledge of laws, regulations and issues related to ownership and transfer of, and security interests in real estate and mortgage lending, including related documentation and closing processes is required.

Responsibilities/Duties *Job Functions** Percentage Job Functions 40% Legal Support to the Loan Services Department Answers questions from Loan Services department and Marketplace around loan closing, loan documentation, servicing actions, granting and perfection of security interests Draft and review documentation for loan closing and servicing. Review requirements title insurance commitments and policies and works with both internal and external resources to resolve issues. 25%* *Commercial Loan Document Preparation and Legal Resource* * Draft and review commercial loan documents such as master loan agreements, notes, security agreements, loan covenants, and related documentation Answer questions from Marketplace and Credit departments involving commercial loan accounts 15%* *Legal Support - Other Contracts* * Review and draft other contracts such as vendor agreements * Serves as a resource to Association staff on non-loan related legal questions.
20% Legal Support to General Counsel Additional legal support to the General Counsel Additional legal support to association departments as directed. Support as need for bankruptcy or litigation questions Review of other contracts and legal documents as requested Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the organization. Essential Functions for this position consist of all items listed under any category that make up 5% or more of the job duties.

Required Skills Minimum Qualifications * *J.D. in Law with experience in agriculture, business, or a related area* * 3 years of real estate loan law or loan related experience Required Knowledge and Skills Expert knowledge of laws, regulations and issues related to ownership and transfer of, and security interests in real estate and mortgage lending, including related documentation and closing processes Significant knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations including consumer credit/reporting (including TRID, TIL, ECOA, FCRA, etc.), Uniform Commercial Code and statutory liens affecting real and personal property Skill in leading and supervising staff of loan services specialists Skill in focusing and concentrating on details Skill in interacting diplomatically with internal and external customers of various backgrounds in a high volume setting Oral and written communication skills sufficient to discuss a variety of job-related topics, and to effectively communicate complex topics to a variety of audiences Skill in setting priorities to reflect the importance of job responsibilities Skill in developing, implementing and maintaining quality control measures Skill in utilizing Microsoft Office to increase efficiency and effectiveness Responsible to appropriately protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association's systems and data and clients' data
