Graphic designer and sign production

This position will have two roles and is an excellent opportunity for production team members to enter and gain experience as a graphic designer. Basic understanding and education in Adobe Creative Suites are required, however training and direction will be provided by the Senior Graphic Designer.
Production/Sign Maker:
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate and maintain all printing equipment including large format printer, latex printer, plotter, laminator, and RIP software; using proper fit, settings and feeding of materials.
• Follow a layout to place computer-generated vinyl or full color graphic

image(s) on a predetermined substrate or medium.

• Accurately prepare substrates for large format printing or vinyl application. This may include cutting, painting, laminating, cleaning and maintaining the substrates for printing or vinyl application.
• Weed excess vinyl from computer cut images using various weeding techniques depending on size, type of vinyl and complexity of image.
• Perform quality assurance measures pre- and post-construction by accurately reading and interpreting a Work Order and then proofing for errors or unacceptable standards (bubbles, ragged edges, loose seams).
• Perform finishing operations such as laminating or mounting of printed pieces.
• Report inventory levels and stock to be reordered to the manager.

Graphic Designer:

The Graphic Designer position creates art /graphics that can be provided to customer in form of a proof for approval and then output to production / sign makers. This involves various levels of creativity, including original design work, design modifications based on a customer drawing, the refinement of graphic files provided by the customer, and precise reproduction of a customer-provided design. An understanding of substrates (materials) and methods of printing will be trained.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Read and correctly interpret Work Orders; design signs according to written instructions.
• Inspect art/jobs for accuracy before sending them to production.
• Logo design, maintenance and sourcing: scanning, editing, and converting graphic files provided by customer.
• Image sourcing: locate photos, understand copyright laws, have knowledge of resources for purchased stock images, and understand resolution options and optimal enlargement specifications from image vendors and image originals.
• Provide proofs as necessary for customer approval.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
