Manufacturing Engineer, Senior

FAMCO’s Manufacturing Engineer will be an integral member of our Operations team. They are an analytical problem solver who goes beyond band aids to identifying root causes, evaluating optimal solutions, and implementing comprehensive upgrades to prevent future issues. They are relentless about quality and making sure a project is complete and meets expectations while thriving in a fast-paced environment.

Major areas of responsibility also include:

Safety:

  • Develops a plant culture that places high value on workplace safety
  • Provides technical support in writing Job Safety Analyses (JSA’s)
  • Knowledge of ergonomics and machine safety ensuring safe production equipment

Quality:

  • Experienced and passionate about using Continuous Improvement techniques such as 6 Sigma
  • Applies knowledge of functions, processes and capabilities of machines and equipment to determine tool requirements and establish sequence of operations to fabricate parts and to assemble complete products
  • Solicits feedback from engineers, machine operators and assemblers to continually improve the manufacturing methods
  • Analyze engineering data using statistical methods to characterize performance of components, subassemblies, and final device assemblies

Operational Excellence:

  • Experienced and passionate about using Continuous Improvement techniques such as Lean
  • Works with Engineering, Purchasing, and Sales to establish cost effective processes for manufacturing
  • Lists operations to be performed indicating machines, cutting tools, fixtures, and other equipment routing to be used and estimates times needed to perform each operation
  • Identify and lead cost reduction and/or improvement efforts for existing manufacturing processes in a cellular manufacturing environment.
  • Design when necessary, acquire, install and qualify production equipment and tooling
  • Assist in resolving production line issues
  • Develop and maintain process documentation
  • Develop best practices and implement across all products
  • Design components, fixtures and equipment and document through creation of engineering drawings and specifications

Strategy & Planning:

  • Design and coordinate line layouts, work stations, cell concepts, and set-ups for current and new products
  • Participates in development of new products, research of new materials and technologies, product enhancements and expansions
  • Develop and evaluate production strategies and processes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree; preferably in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in a production environment
  • 2+ years of experience in sheet metal preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in Solidworks
  • Good analytical and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload
  • Must possess strong knowledge, understanding and experience in various problem-solving and participatory management techniques
  • Exceptional collaboration skills and ability to influence team members outside reporting lines
  • Strong planning, problem solving, project management, negotiation and decision-making skills
  • Highly organized and process focused, able to clearly prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects and implement sustainable processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated history of going above and beyond for the team and customers
