Job Description

FAIR Health, Inc., an independent nonprofit organization, was established in October 2009 with the mission to help assure fairness and transparency in health insurance information. FAIR Health has created a database of over 36 billion de-identified private healthcare claim records—the largest in the country—which receives claims monthly and which serves as the foundation for a variety of data products, custom analytics and consumer tools. FAIR Health has also been certified by CMS as a “Qualified Entity” and thus holds the entire collection of Medicare Parts A, B and D claims from 2013 to the present, which get routinely refreshed.

Our standard data modules, custom analytics and technological tools serve all participants in the healthcare sector nationwide; they are licensed to payors, third-party administrators, bill review companies, self-insured employers, government agencies, academic researchers and consultants. Our medical and dental data are used to inform statutes and regulations, healthcare cost indices, fee schedules, benefit and provider network design, practice/facility expansion, health systems research and dispute resolution, among other uses. We also offer a suite of consumer-oriented tools and resources available on our consumer website (fairhealthconsumer.org), as well as a mobile application, which can be licensed by other organizations.

Summary of Position

The Senior Account Manager will build and maintain relationships with potential and existing clients through consultative sales efforts. The responsibilities of the Senior Account Manager include communicating the value proposition and demonstrating common or unique uses of FAIR Health data products to increase and expand sales. The candidate will have experience selling or supporting data products and solutions within the health plan, TPA, health system and consulting markets; workers' compensation, auto liability, and healthcare legislative and regulatory knowledge a plus. The individual will work with FAIR Health’s business development and account management teams and report to the Director of Sales under the Executive Director, Business Development and Chief Client Officer.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify and establish relationships with key decision makers and stakeholders in potential and existing client groups.
  • Use relationship management techniques to develop selling opportunities; manage current relationships and develop new selling relationships within existing and new markets.
  • Utilizing a consultative approach, discuss business goals with prospects and develop a formal quote, a written sales proposal or a formal sales presentation addressing their business needs.
  • Develop an account plan to sell to clients based on their business needs.
  • Maintain and grow knowledge of clients’ business and industry to assess opportunities.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, new products and clients’ ability to utilize these products.
  • Manage contract requirements in collaboration with the technical and legal staff.
  • Attend conferences and seminars to increase FAIR Health’s presence and name recognition through networking with industry professionals.
  • Meet with the Director of Sales to provide updates, including forecast/pipeline information.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions with the business development team. 

 Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have experience selling or supporting health plans and analytics based on claims data solutions to insurers, third-party administrators, consultants, etc.
  • Must possess a fundamental understanding of CPT® and ICD coding and strong familiarity with multiple payors, including commercial, Medicare, Medicaid and workers compensation.  
  • 7+ years demonstrated track record of achieving and exceeding sales and client retention objectives in the health insurance IT, healthcare or medical device industry.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience – Marketing or Business degree preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, including presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with employees within the sales function and across functions, including marketing, legal and product development.
  • Experience with target account selling, solution selling and/or consultative sales techniques.
  • Resourceful problem solver who independently translates high-level goals into actionable plans and results.
  • Ability to work in a quickly changing environment with a strong sense of responsive, creative and results-driven, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience using Salesforce.
  • Some travel required (5-10 percent).
