Controller

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the quality of accounting and financial reporting for the Bank and affiliated entities. This person will implement policies and procedures for financial reporting, determine ways to reduce cost, apply internal controls, and assist with certain aspects of the bank's operations. Operational and financial reports will be prepared for the Chief Financial Officer, the Board of Directors, certain bank committees, and internal or external auditors.

Essential Functions:

• Understand bank products and services and their respective profitability.
• Prepare/Post General Ledger entries.
• Prepares quarterly regulatory reports for banks and bank holding company.
• Prepare monthly financial reports for directors and executive committees.
• Manage integrity of accounting system. Review financial data and make necessary general ledger entries and adjustments. This may include entries for investments, accruals, fixed assets, payroll, and other assets/liabilities. Monitor format and settings of general ledger system.
• Review and approve expenditures. Manage disbursement process.
• Advise Internal Audit and Operations functions.
• Monitor forecasted net interest risk and related cash flow.
• Assist Investment Officer in recordkeeping securities.
• Prepare annual budgets and monitor budgeted financial performance.
• Recommend and assess new bank products and services.
• Assist Chief Financial Officer with managing other departments and functions.
• Balance/reconcile bank/General Ledger accounts daily, weekly and monthly.
• Research and resolve discrepancies on reconcilements.

Additional Functions:

• Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements (Education, Experience):

• Bachelor's Degree, in Finance or Accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• CPA Certification preferred.
• Ten years of experience in the financial services industry.
• Three years of experience in supervisory capacity.
• Three Years of Retail Banking experience.
• Tact and diplomacy in dealing with both customers and employees.
• Able to work well under pressure.

Physical Requirements:

This work is sedentary and requires the following physical activities:

• Sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
• Frequent lifting (up to 10 pounds of paper supplies or minor office equipment).
• May be required to travel by air or car
