SUMMARY The Ophthalmic Scribe serves as the providers lead assistant to ensure accurate patient records, in addition to gathering data pertaining to the patient’s visual status by maintaining an environment conducive to the delivery of efficient quality eye care. The Ophthalmic Scribe is able to effectively perform appropriate clinical testing by previous form education and or clinical experience which allows an understanding of the theory, principals of eye care. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Serves as the physicians lead assistant/scribe and examines patient entering data into electronic medical records or handwrites in paper chart. Reviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information. Performs testing required by type of exam scheduled, patient complaint and history. Takes an ocular and systemic history and accurately record visual acuity. Performs lensometry, refractometry, applanation tonometry, basic muscle balance testing, assess pupils, assess the anterior chamber, confrontation visual fields and gross external exam. Administers diagnostic tests. Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician. Assists with in-office procedures ensuring proper informed consent is obtained, sets up and cleans up from procedures. Performs advanced ophthalmic procedures. Assists in training of other ophthalmic technicians. Assists with patient education. Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the workday. Complies with all practice procedures and protocols. Complies with all State and Federal regulations. Understands and accepts responsibility to report potential or suspected errors to supervisor. Maintains positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism. Contributes to the team effort by completing additional tasks/projects as needed. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS Ability to travel between both Marietta and Dallas locations on a weekly basis to accommodate the Physicians schedule ICP/Nextech experience strongly preferred Fosters a positive work environment for all employees. Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office; especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels; both internal and external. Exercises sound judgment in responding to inquiries; understands when to route inquiries to next level. Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail. Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously within inflexible time frames. Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes. Team player that develops strong collaborative working relationships with internal partners and can effectively engage and ability to build consensus among cross-functional teams Strong problem solving and negotiation skills Employment Type: Full Time Years Experience: 3 - 5 years
