Accounting Associate

Exploding Kittens started in 2015 as a Kickstarter campaign with a humble goal of $10,000. With art by acclaimed webcomic artist Matt Inman (The Oatmeal) and game design by Elan Lee (Xbox, ARGs), Exploding Kittens received record-breaking support from over 219,000 backers and raised almost $9 million in 30 days. By 2019, the company has produced three versions of Exploding Kittens, two expansion packs as well as four completely new games (most recently Throw Throw Burrito and On a Scale of One to T-Rex). Beyond physical games, Exploding Kittens created a mobile app, beloved merchandise, and are in the works on an upcoming tabletop convention called Burning Cat.

Exploding Kittens is seeking a full-time Accounting Associate at our corporate office in Los Angeles. This position will play a key role in working at the instruction of the Accounting Manager to assist with the preparation of financial statements, collaborate and assist in the development of financial reports and to perform general administrative duties. Applicants must have a high level of energy, work efficiently and have some experience or education in accounting is highly desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Process financial information for data entry into accounting system

  • Customer and vendor set-up: collecting, processing and organizing applications, seller permits, W9s and ACH/wire information

  • Invoicing process: processing and emailing customer SOs/invoices, AR aging reporting and follow-up on AR aging

  • Accounts payable entries: reviewing and entering bills, review and reconciliation against statements and seeking internal approvals

  • Maintain and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts against source documents

  • Assist in monthly adjusting journal entries, enter basic accruals and deferrals

Assist in the preparation of internal business reports and administrative duties:

  • General administrative duties not limited to the processing of applications, tax, insurance, HR documentation

  • Ad hoc projects and contributes to team by accomplishing tasks as needed

HIGHLY DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience

  • 1 year experience in Accounting and Finance in accordance with GAAP

  • Experience with Quickbooks, Sage or equivalent accounting software – will be tested

  • Excel and Google sheets experience

  • Applicants will be tested on basic math, accounting and excel skills
