Maintenance Assistant

Responsible for assisting with overall maintenance of the facility, including supervision/coordination of appropriate personnel and outside vendors. Span of control would include, but not be limited to, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, landscaping and other facility maintenance.
Schedule: 6:30am-3:00pm Monday through Friday
Rate: $20.00/Hr
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of production machinery, including water, mechanical and electrical systems for hard coating; molding machines, CNC’s and other auxiliary equipment as needed. Assist in troubleshooting electrical and plumbing issues in facility and perform or schedule repairs as needed.
- Partner with Manager to coordinate, and when necessary, supervise, outside contractors for electrical, plumbing, roofing, maintenance and energy conservation work.
- Research replacement parts and equipment to provide information and quotes to Manager and purchasing department for purchase approval.
- Generate requisitions for maintenance related purchases and track inventory.
- Assist with modifications on production equipment as needed for new projects.
- Aid in maintenance of Company vehicles, forklifts and grounds equipment by performing or scheduling repairs and/or maintenance as needed.
- Provide support to maintain the facility for OSHA compliance and safety of workers including, but not limited to, fire suppression systems, hoists and safety training programs and building checks during shutdown periods.
- In the absence of the Maintenance and Facilities Manager, supervise Set-Up Mechanics for Utility/Coating department and all Janitorial staff and act as point of contact for plant issues.
- Perform or coordinate maintenance projects as needed, such as painting, roof/drain checks, fixture repairs, HVAC filters, etc.
- Respond to emergency calls and provide support and/or aid in coordinating outside support to resolve issues so as to maintain production schedules.
- Coordinate and/or assist with seasonal grounds maintenance (mowing, irrigation system, raking, snow removal) to maintain safe access to and from facility
Requirements:
- High school or vocational/trade school diploma or equivalent with minimum of 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical and creative ability, basic computer skills and good communication and people skills.
- Prior supervisory experience helpful.
- Good general mechanical knowledge and experience working with hand and power tools. Knowledge of HVAC systems with basic electrical and/or plumbing skills.
- Must have a positive attitude, a satisfactory work history, maintain a good attendance record, and work well with co-workers.
- Ability to obtain a fork truck license or certificate.
